It isn’t that he is wearing boots with a high lift, ugly boots, poorly fitted boots, or boots that simply don’t go with what he is wearing.
It is none of that.
It is that he is inauthentic.
When I saw it, I thought the boots looked goofy on him, but I wasn’t going to judge him on that.
But in watching it, it wasn’t that the boots didn’t seem to fit him physically...it was that they didn’t seem to fit him in any way. They didn’t go with the clothes. They didn’t appear to go with the size of his feet. And they didn’t seem to go with his persona.
Granted, I don’t know or follow him, so he might be right at home wearing those boots around. But I don’t judge him on that. To me, it is that he is trying hard to project as something he is not.
I agree with other Freepers who don’t see his boots as important, or even that they simply didn’t look right. But unless there is some explanation, it feels like he is trying to project something for political purposes, and it didn’t work with me. There was something oddly awkward, and that did register with me.
That perceived inauthenticity.

there’s more going on there than just lifts ... it looks to me like desantis must have tiny feet but is trying to project a more viral image of a big guy with big feet by adding 6” toe extensions to his boots ... it’s no wonder his gait looks so messed up, given both lifts and toe extensions ...
I wear cowboy boots and can see the sad boots your boy is wearing. Watch the video again and you'll even see the toe flipping up when he steps forward. Nothing in the toe section.

Put vintage pointy-toed cowboy boots in a search and you'll see even more elongated toe boxes. The Mexican ones are like a caricature.
My uncle was a mechanic, rodeo cowboy, roofer and bingo parlor owner. He wore western-style clothing, including very pointy-toed cowboy boots even when he no longer did rodeo work. He even had a handlebar moustache when he first moved to Florida from Arizona.
I take it many here somehow missed the fashion trend of long, pointy-toed shoes for both men and women in the early 2000s.
