In 400 AD, the Roman Empire extends to Britain and the Romans become impressed with the fight skills of the warrior Sarmatian people, which are spared, but have to send their sons to serve Rome in the cavalry for 15 years. Only after these services, these knights are free to return home. King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table have their last mission before achieving their freedom.

All I can say is that Clive Owen - whim I generally love - is woefully miscast.

A much more insightful - and humorous - review by the great Mark Steyn:

King Arthur

...Woad country, where the Woads live. The Woads are so called because they're blue. You'd be blue, too, if your beloved native land was occupied by the Romans, and so a cunning Woad called Merlin is leading a guerrilla insurgency against Rome. If there was a song at this point, it would be 'How To Handle A Roman'. But there isn't, so instead the Woads slip across the wall, determined to push the Romans back down the M1: all Woads lead to Wome, as Elmer Fudd would say.

..... If you think there's too much Saxon violence in the movies these days, wait'll you see these guys. Their general Sir Dick - or, as I discovered in the closing credits, Cerdic - is a mountain of blond hair extensions. Perhaps some insensitive locals tittered at him as he waded ashore, but, for whatever reason, the Saxons slaughter everyone they come across in a frenzy of Woad rage. As Cerdic, Stellan Skarsgård hams up his dialogue with a throaty rumble that sounds like he came first in that year's Stockholm round of the Nick Nolte karaoke competition. When he hears about the Roman estate nearby, he dispatches a rape'n'pillage squad led by his son Cynric, because it takes his child to raze a village. His son is bald, which explains where dad's hair extensions came from.

I mean, how can you not LOL at that?!

I said years ago that if I could write 1/10th as well as Steyn, it would be an immense improvement.

Hollywood take on history!
Sarmatians were East Europeans from today’s Ukraine.
Rome conquered Britain in first century AD (Claudius).

I wonder if King Arthur is a minority. The Welsh said he is real, nowadays Hollywood could make George Washington be a black person.

Yes, they do - but they went Woke last year and replaced their iconic King Arthur image on the bags. Their PR rep with whom I corresponded said it was to promote "inclusiveness".

I use HEB Organics bread flour now for my farmers market bread making.

Like so much Hollywood drivel they try to denigrate Christianity by having christian “priests” torturing people to get conversions.
And the Pagans are often the “Good” guys. I believe this Arthur was shown as a believer in the Pelagian heresy.

Steyn is a hoot! Even though I love his skewering, I still like the movie...mainly because it didn't have the Lancelot/Guinevere adultery...

oh, and the stellar acting, I mean, Stellan Skarsgård was scary, and Bors & the rest were excellent - a great ensemble cast, really.

(For a hint at Skarsgard's acting chops...check out his goofy, naked scientist portrayal in the MCU).
