I was thinking how there’s a lot of debate about certain issues. For example there have been a lot of threads recently about abortion. While just about all Freepers, are pro-life, there are a lot of different opinions about what we should do about abortion now that Roe versus Wade is overturned. Some of those discussions are pretty spirited and wide-ranging.
I made an error in a post once. I think it was putting the link to the article in the title slot. Got it pulled, okay, fine, along with a curt message about learning to post.
This was after many years and dozens of successful posts. So why not a polite tone, with a message I had got things switched up?
Figured the mod was a natural grump or having bad day.

This is a HUGE issue here.

No it doesn’t. Folks have to go use a third party search engine to get any accurate results from this domain.
Fewer people are here than in the past, but I doubt “arrogant moderation” is the reason. I am surprised at how much stuff the moderators don’t delete.

Exactly right. Simple common courtesy is a good practice if you actually appreciate your users. It doesn’t make any sense to have the “You are lucky we even let you post here” attitude while trying to retain users and survive on participation and donations. Unless you have so many folks knocking down the doors to come participate and donate that it doesn’t matter if you lose any.

I have observed the same actually. They have been extremely lax and forgiving the last year and a half. Especially when members are calling for other members to be banned due to their own personal ideology or bias. They have been diligently weighing these bias requests very well. But at the same time there has been some personal arrogance, authoritarianism, and bias injected into the situation from administration.
But you are spot on, it is not just moderation why folks are leaving. There are several reasons.

Certain mods here are on a real power trip. They’re biased, have their favorites and are certainly not impartial. They don’t even try to hide it. That’s the way it’s been forever.
Yes I know. But can the domain really afford that? At some point it is prudent to adjust policy. Has no one noticed that the quarterly goal has already been dropped from 88k to 75k and headed down?? There are reasons for this, and isn’t it unproductive to compound those reasons with unneeded personal hangups?
I don’t know either but I’m watching it because the Poster is getting in a back and forth with the Moderator about it...

Speaking only for myself — with very few exceptions, my posts that were pulled were my own fault. [I confess I’m a slow learner though. ;-) ]
