Many regular people fear the Left (e.g., the Democrat/Communist Party) more than they fear God. This is a significant reason why we have seriously mentally ill people (like Fetterman and FJB to name but two of literally thousands), even delusional people (like “trans-sexuals) running the country or at least influencing it to a far greater degree than a sane society should allow.
