Great movie. Great music soundtrack. Maurice Jarre was one of the best composers ever (Lawrence of Arabia, A Passage to India, Doctor Zhivago, Witness).

Fun movie, though a bit sappy at the end.

Back in the day when Lou Gosset was somebody. This was around the time of the first Iron Eagle. Also a pretty good film.

I think “Enemy Mine” and “Robinson Crusoe on Mars” are very similar.

I read that as a short SF story before the movie was made. It’s a pretty good adaptation.

Hell in the Pacific...starring Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune...same idea.
P.S. the alien suit Gossett was wearing was really bad. The opening for his lips was slightly larger than his mouth it was quite obviously a costume. Reminded me of those masks worn by “wrestlers’. Read the almanac instead.

It kind of reminds me of when my WAVES grandmother visited Japan and my Japanese mother in law who witnessed the Americans bomb Osaka as a child.

Dennis Quade as the Human, and Lou Gossage Jr. as the Hermaphrodite Alien.
Not Douglas Quaid?

Lou Gosset also played Black Bart as the black sheriff in the pilot as a possible tv series from the movie Blazing Saddles.Steve Landsberg played the waco kid.

Yes it was a good movie. Other than being science fiction, I can’t really classify it as anything else. Rather unique.
