I don’t understand why America continues to take all of the attacks for allowing slavery when it was practiced everywhere in the world at that time! The natives enslaved other tribes. Every country was involved in some form of slavery, and there are countries today where it is STILL going on.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t America one of the first countries to abolish slavery? Third, possibly, with the Quakers in Britain being the first protesters? You would think the world was a faultless paradise of equality and then there’s big, bad America, the only horrible nation that bought and sold slaves. It was everywhere.
Follow the money. Always. No one is getting reparations from shytholes in Africa. However the USA is full of people who are fine with distributing OPM globally.
It's because we as Americans don't know our own history.
Through disallowing colonial laws that put a target on slaving, the Empire forced slavery onto what would then become the United States.
A brief mention of this exists in the original draft of the Declaration of independence. But this rabbit hole is very deep.
