Today once more we start with the ever-important undercurrents, which are the actual significant drivers of the developments beyond the ongoing tactical vagaries of the battlefield.
Putin had a meeting with Erdogan where he reiterated Russia’s stance on the grain deal—that it cannot go forward until Russia’s demands are resolved. Putin mostly spoke about the economic factors related to this, however adjacently Shoigu released a statement on the military side; namely, that part of the deal was Ukraine cannot build or launch offensive naval drone strikes from the port areas, which he says they have been doing.
But beneath this surface level arbitration, the real weight shifted around new deals between Russia and Turkey, which further develops the multipolar expansion. In particular, the two countries laid out a plan by which Russian grain will be facilitated by Turkey in the future as well as, even more importantly, the beginning of talks between Russia-Turkish banks to initiate trade in national currencies.

NATO is divided against itself and should not stand. It is a source of trouble in the world.
Should have kicked Turkey out long ago
LOL Russia invades its neighbors in 2008, 2014 and 2022 but NATO is the problem.
Seems like Turkey and Russia will make a “ grain deal” and leave Ukraine to work out their own ( which they have been stuck on demands that are nonstarters. Good Luck to not have Erdogan to carry their water)
Also This week China told Turkey they would be accepted into BRICS if they apply,
Having the West try to subvert and align the governments of those neighbors to join a hostile alliance vs Russia ( NATO) was, indeed, the problem.
In a way, NATO is like the coastal forts the United States built in the 1800s. Those forts made sense at one time, but they eventually became just a waste of money. And so they were decommissioned.
Same goes with NATO. Decommission it, then let the EU find something to replace it. It’s not 1945 anymore. The EU has the money.
“to join a hostile alliance vs Russia ( NATO)”
Lol, it’s a defensive alliance against Russia, because Russia decided to set out on a course to overthrow EVERY GOVERNMENT IN THE ENTIRE PLANET.
"Forts win wars!"
NATO hardly pushed expansion: the US, Germany, and France all dragged their feet about admitting former Warsaw Pact countries. The Eastern Europeans clamored to get in knowing well from history that Russian expansionism wasn't dead but merely dormant. Imperialism is one of the fundamental bases of the Russian state, providing a source of legitimation for Russians who seek solace for their own brutalization by brutalizing the smaller nations around them and as a source of loot for the Russian elite. Putin's gangster government is just Russia returning to its mean.
Wowsie-dowsie. Folks make a lot of assertions on threads and in all sorts of directions. Rather to be expected. But....
...it would be interesting if you would provide a couple of citations with accompanying URLs to support the "every government in the entire planet" assertion.
Please do so. Thanks in advance.
“..it would be interesting if you would provide a couple of citations”
If you need a citation to tell you that Russia plotted to overthrow every country on the planet so that communism could take over everywhere, then you are on the wrong forum.
All that map proves is that everyone bordering Russia tends to want to ally up with the only country on the planet that will protect them from Russian aggression. Because they’ve seen how countries that neglect that threat end up.
ROFL! 👍🏻
>> Folks make a lot of assertions on threads and in all sorts of directions.
You don’t understand! That wasn’t just your garden variety hyperbolic assertion... it is the fearsome ALL-CAPS HYPERBOLIC ASSERTION!!!
This guy means business.

A very clever yet evasive response.
I have read the "Communist Manifesto" (written by a German who ended up in Britain, and is buried there). It and many other texts and ideologies have all sought to gain ideological control over other nations and peoples. These include various religious as well as political systems of thought.
That you cannot support your assertion is clear. That you hide behind an "assumptive close" to a discussion shows you cannot. Or will not.
As to what forum I should or should not be on, this one is called Free Republic. That adjective has escaped you, in your assumptive ideological purity. Conservatives disagree, and often. Authoritarians rarely allow dissent and disagreement.
I am on the "right" forum, and that forum is "free."
:)
I disagree with you, friend, proving conservatives can at times disagree. That "ALL-CAPS HYPERBOLIC ASSERTION" seemed quite the "garden variety hyperbolic assertion."
By the way, when I think of a "nervous tick," the brilliant Herbert Lom (1917-2012) comes to mind. We watched on DVD only last week. So there's a clue, so.....
Best wishes.
