GOP Senators Weigh ‘Special Meeting’ on Leadership After Doctor Suggests McConnell May Be Experiencing Small Seizures

GOP Senators are weighing a ‘special’ meeting on their leadership after McConnell’s latest freezing incident.

81-year-old Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is “medically clear” to continue work after he froze up for the second time within the last month on Wednesday.

And this is just what we have seen in public. Certainly, McConnell is having these episodes in private as well.

McConnell was holding a press conference in Covington, Kentucky on Wednesday when he went into a catatonic state.

Mitch McConnell temporarily froze and was unable to speak. An aide came to his rescue and promptly ended the press conference.

Late last month McConnell became unresponsive and stared blankly during a Senate press conference.

As TGP’s Kristinn Taylor reported, McConnell suffered a concussion and a broken bone after a fall in March. He was hospitalized and did a stint in rehab before returning to the Senate in mid-April.

My son has epilepsy with grand mals , but my husband had a kid on his baseball team who had the absence seizures. He froze up once when a fly ball came his way and it hit him in the face and broke his orbital socket! Soon after he was dx and a year later had brain surgery which I believe helped him a lot.

I know the law is crystal clear. Did you see this?

Kentucky's Democratic Governor Wouldn't Say If He'd Replace Mitch McConnell With a Republican

Excerpt:

Kentucky, until recently, was a state that allowed the governor to fill a vacancy, regardless of party. This led McConnell, now 81, to urge the Republican-led state legislature to pass a new bill in 2021 that requires an appointment of the same party. Now Beshear would be forced to fill a McConnell vacancy with a Republican. But in a recent column for Politico, Jonathan Martin said there’s growing pressure for Beshear to flout the newly passed law in light of McConnell’s health issues and appoint a Democrat anyway.

Maybe the parties should agree that whichever Republican replaces McConnell gets his staff and privileges and whoever replaces Feinstien gets her seat on the Judiciary.

The Democrats won’t replace her because the R’s won’t seat a Democrat on judiciary, so I can’t blame them for hanging on.

We, the people, need senators who can function. Country before party.

I loathe Di Fi, but we can see exactly why she won’t leave. And Mitch is obviously not doing well physically.

No, that is not what occurred. She had him take a few more questions and told people to "speak up" - though he did answer the questions in complete sentences, he looked and sounded rather pitiful. But she did not "promptly end the press conference" as this Gateway Pundit article incorrectly states - of course, accuracy is not a standard at this publication as history has repeatedly shown. You even posted an article and praised its accuracy for which they proclaimed it was unusual for McConnell to get booed by the Democrats at Fancy Farm...which happens literally every year since 1984. Embarrassingly when the falsity of the article was pointed out to you, you still praised it as accurate and informative.

It has already been suggested Beshear would ignore this law and appoint who he wants, then see if the Schumer Senate will vote to seat his appointee.

The candidate running against Beshear is Daniel Cameron. Bobby Mills is his running mate running for Lt. governor.

If that's the Republican leadership in Kentucky, how much difference will it be for these goobers to pick a RINO than the Democrat governor Breaking the law and trying to pick a liberal?

Why would Republicans want to force Feinstein to retire? Her absence keeps the Senate Judiciary from acting on Biden’s judicial appointments. It negates their slight majority status in the Senate. It’s the Democrats who are wringing their hands about Feinstein. McConnell needs to step down from leadership and announce he will retire after the 2024 elections. His seat will be up in 2026, so Republicans will need to spend lots of money defending that seat in 2 elections.

They are “considering” the idea of holding a “special meeting”.

Senate action at it’s finest! Oh, the controversy!

Apparently he should remain in the senate, just step down from leadership. The dem governor is planning to appoint a dem to replace him if he steps down from the senate.

I don’t think any Democrats have called for McConnell’s resignation over health reasons. They just do it subtly by calling attention to it just that they’re “concerned”. Biden calling McConnell to check-in on him is next level irony.
