“In particular, the evidence includes the fact that our Indians were and are genetically related to the Siberians of the frozen north and to the East Indians of South Asia.”
Related to East Asians yes (from Siberia down to Manchuria, Korea, Northeast China Coast) and out to the East China Sea (northern Japan), and Southeast Asians (Taiwan, Philippines, Malyasia) maybe, but NOT Indians (who in the H are “East Indians???).
Even the “Indies” did not ever refer to northern and northeastern Asia - the dominant ancestral source(s) of native Americans.
That some people at sometime made that mistake was out of ignorance, like saying “all Asians are the same”, when they are not. India is considered part of Asia but, for example, Indians and Chinese are not the same.
And Indians - from India - arrived in Malaysia and Indonesia as part of British and other European colonial enterprises (18 & 19th century), not significantly earlier.
Did you ever hear of--wait for it--the East Indies?
It's a time-honored term to describe the multitude of islands, peoples, and things dotting the vast eastern Pacific.
It's a huge area that's mostly water, not a very specific term, genetically speaking. A variety of groups have lived and traded there. If you haven't heard the word before, congratulations. You have now.
