Technically they are back in business. The company folded in the ‘50’s, but was rebranded in 1999.

I knew Sammy Pierce, my dad Bought his house when he was going thru his divorce. He built the Indians in the 60’s up until about 1970-71 and rolled them across the street to the Store where they were sold. This was in San Gabriel and the store was on San Gabriel Blvd 100 yards from the house he assembled them in.

Actually, they went out of buisness in 1953.
Several times companies have tried to capitalize on its name.Right now its Polaris.

Indian was America’s first motorcycle company. Still in business. "still in business" is a bit misleading. The brand has been sold several times. The current folks selling 'indians' has little to no relationship with the company that originated the name.
