President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he will not sign the party’s loyalty pledge for the 2024 elections.
This pledge, which promises support for the eventual Republican presidential nominee, is a requirement set by the party’s leadership for candidates who wish to participate in the high-stakes primary debate slated for August 23 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel emphasized that signing this pledge is mandatory for candidates wishing to participate in the GOP’s first primary debate.
Earlier this year, McDaniel said President Trump would sign the pledge: “I think they all want to be on the debate stage. I think President Trump would like to be on the debate stage. That’s what he likes to do. And I expect they will all be there.”
During an interview with Newsmax’s Eric Bolling, Trump announced he would not sign the pledge.
“I mean, I have a problem with the debate for another reason. I wouldn’t sign the pledge. Why would I sign a pledge if there are people on there that I wouldn’t have. I wouldn’t have certain people as somebody that I would endorse,” said Trump.
“So, they want you to sign a pledge, but I can name three or four people that I wouldn’t support for president. Right there, there’s a problem,” Trump added.

agree
Smart move. Half of the people on that stage have already said they won’t support him. So why should he support them?
L
Very well. I accept your assessment.
In that case, I firmly believe that Trump cannot and will not win another general election. Hence I believe a vote for Trump in the primary is the equivalent of a vote for Biden in the general election.
Therefore, I refuse to support Trump at any point in the campaign. He is a deeply-flawed and a toxic individual, and he will drive independents into the Democrat camp.
I have posted previously that the only person Trump can beat is Hillary because she is almost as toxic as he is. His only saving grace in 2016 were the bitter-clingers in WI, MI, PA, and GA. That is not enough to beat Biden in any scenario.
“...This pledge, which promises support for the eventual Republican presidential nominee, is a requirement set by the party’s leadership for candidates who wish to participate in the high-stakes primary debate slated for August 23 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin...”
What a crude and wholly transparent method for the RNC to further sully itself and to continue its betrayal of the Republican voters
I don’t think Trump understands the purpose of a political party.
Just to clarify when you say that you “refuse to support Trump at any point in the campaign” are you referring to just the primary or both the primary and general election?
I know that you said earlier that you will vote for the Republican nominee in the general, regardless of who that is. So I think you are just referring to just the primary here but the “at any point” wording blurs that a bit.
From the article:
“So, they want you to sign a pledge, but I can name three or four people that I wouldn’t support for president. Right there, there’s a problem,” Trump added.”
How is my statement different from Trump’s?
What kills me is this makes 100% perfect sense to me, yet he will be criticized for this. Seriously, I would NEVER vote for Chris Christie, never.
Funny how nothing is ever Trump’s fault and Trump never has the power to change anything.
If we return to the pre-2016 Freep definition of a RINO, namely, a northeastern moderate republican, Trump has always been, outside of promises to build a wall, a RINO. He’s always been something of a squish on social issues, strong on low taxes and regulations, anti-interventionalism, etc.
That’s the result of infiltrating the co owned swamp, being spied on by that swamp for joining in their reindeer games of politics, being accused of being a foreign asset by the swamp, hoax impeached by the swamp, having a pandemic/academic timed and released to meddle with an election that was stolen by the swamp, then raided by the swamp when he left the swamp.
And every day since..
Trump’s fault was running against your swamp
And not having the mandate by the people to dirt nap it
So you believe Trump is powerless against the swamp. Duly noted.
No. I don’t think he’s powerless.
I think he now has a mandate to obliterate your FBI for one.
I think he has a mandate to do unto them as he has had done unto him.
I’d be nervous if I was anywhere near DC during that coup that installed Brandon.
Maybe that’s why folks like Ryan bailed out..
Didn’t want to be clumped in as a co conspirator
Oh, it’s different now because he has a “mandate.” Exactly how does this “mandate” work?
If the establishment trots out Pence, Haley, Asa etc... I’m not wasting my time and effort. That is no choice, that’s nothing more than me-too, me-too, I’m a liberal too!
The establishment and Party worshiping trash eagerly turned on Trump in 16, then tried at every turn to sabotage his presidency and in 20 as well and not a peep was uttered about their version of loyalty, as they all “stood on principle!”
If the establishment nominates another Bush drone, I’m standing on principle and yet another LOSS will be on their necks not mine.
Go whine to the real guy you speak of, Joe Biden. If you want to support GOPe, be my guest. But I plan on not voting for them or their partners the RAT party.
DeSantis doe not even believe there is real vote fraud. Total loser on that alone. Can’t save us without taking care of that.
Trump did not have a mandate to obliterate the FBI in 2016.
Trump has that mandate now.
From his MAGA voters.
Thats one example of how a mandate comes to pass..
Your mileage can vary
Obliterating the deep state is a mandated campaign promise this 2024 cycle.
The ‘deep state’ was a conspiracy theory not too long ago..
Funny how some things work out..
The Deep State and Swamp’s actions from 2015 on Trump till today has consequences too.
For them,too.
Lawlessness and just us doesn’t last forever..
More silly talk. DeSantis has done more to actually secure elections than Trump ever dreamed of. DeSantis has ended ballot harvesting in Florida, and even setup an official Office for Election Security, something that Trump says he will now do, if elected, because he’s just following the leader DeSantis, who knows how to actually get things done.
“Twenty years ago, nobody thought Florida was a prime example of how to conduct elections, but we have become a national leader by running the most secure elections in the country,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “We need to do more to ensure our elections remain secure. We have ended ballot harvesting, stopped drop boxes and the mass mailing of ballots, and banned Zuckerbucks, and this bill will give us more resources to make sure bad actors are held accountable.”
“Governor DeSantis has made elections integrity a top priority from the very beginning of his administration, taking steps to ensure we invested in our elections systems, strengthened our cyber defenses, modernized equipment, updated voter rolls, and improved transparency, and we’ve seen results,” said Florida Secretary of State, Laurel M. Lee. “As Florida’s Chief Elections Official, I share Governor DeSantis’ strong commitment to elections integrity. We want to ensure that every Floridian can have confidence that in Florida, we do elections right.”
“Florida leads the nation in free and fair elections because Governor DeSantis and the Legislature have taken a proactive approach to address any issues,” said Senate President Wilton Simpson. “Voter confidence in the integrity of our elections is essential to maintaining a democratic form of government, and I am grateful to Governor DeSantis for making election integrity in this state a focus of his administration. When people and organizations interfere with Florida elections, there are consequences.”
“I am proud to have worked with Governor DeSantis and his team to deliver a transformational elections reform bill,” said Senator Travis Hutson. “This law puts Florida at the forefront of election security and transparency.”
“In 2020, Florida set the example of a well-run election for the rest of the nation to see,” said Representative Daniel Perez. “SB 524 is an example of our commitment to always do better and continue to be the best state in the nation for secure and accurate election results.”
SB 524 increases the penalty for ballot harvesting from a first-degree misdemeanor to a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison, a $5,000 fine, and up to five years of probation.
The bill also establishes the Office of Election Crimes and Security within the Department of State. Before now, there was not a dedicated office to investigate all election crimes in Florida. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement received positions and resources in this year’s budget to support the criminal investigation of election crimes in partnership with the Office of Election Crimes and Security.
