President Donald Trump dropped a bombshell report on his Truth Social platform that the sham committee overseeing the investigation of the January 6th Capitol riot has destroyed their documents and records illegally.
On Tuesday, Trump wrote:
President Trump: So now that I have full Subpoena Power because of the Freedom of Speech Sham Indictment by Crooked Joe Biden, Deranged Jack Smith, and the DOJ, it has just been reported that the Unselect January 6th Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs has illegally destroyed their Records and Documents. This is unthinkable, and the Fake Political Indictment against me must be immediately withdrawn. The system is Rigged & Corrupt, very much like the Presidential Election of 2020. We are a Nation in Decline!

Only two witnesses were aired live, Matthew Pottinger, former deputy national security advisor, and Sarah Matthews, a former press aide. Both Pottinger and Matthews resigned immediately after the Jan. 6, 2021 speech, so naturally they were ripe for the committee to show live.
Neither of these two are considered (by me) to be senior members of the Trump administration with inside knowledge of President Trump. They were aides to the senior members of the team.

Just look at what I was responding to. That person said there were NO Republicans on the committee. I knew of those 2, at a minimum. Obviously the worst imaginable, but when you boycott, as Trump and McCarthy did, that's what happens.
You’ve got plibbets of the blow-hole. Go take your laudanum.
That was incredible. The best post I’ve had the pleasure to read in a very long time.
>> He could have participated in the J6 hearings ...
Do you mean “should have”?
And is that an opinion you expressed since the hearings began?
Yes, I know, I even gave you a link to the televised schedule. Trump's supposed offer to testify *IF* the hearings were live, by way of a rumor from the New York Times, was obviously a phony one, or mis-reported, as the hearings *WERE* live. Trump never made any such statement himself, to the public, for the record, either.
There were no Republican-selected members on the committee. Pelosi denied the minority party free selection of their committee members. There is a compelling story there that goes to the credibility of the entire J6 committee.
You're obviously the naysayer on this thread (which is okay), but if you're going to challenge the prevailing narrative you really must have your ducks lined up in a row.
This initial rejection by Pelosi of the minority party's picks is what started the whole protest that the committee was illegitimate, and was the basis for President Trump's unwillingness to cooperate.
Remember, Jordan was one of President Trump's House defenders during the first impeachment. When Pelosi rejected Jordan's participation on the J6 committee, that was the clue to Trump that the committee was not looking to be fair and balanced.

This was not C-SPAN type hearing where ALL the evidence is presented live in real time. It was an edited performance.

Stolen, of course, from an Adam Sandler movie, “Billy Madison”.

WOW! Are you so clueless as to not know that GOP appointments to this committee were denied? Those representing were NOT representing! They were chosen by PELOSI!
Pelosi didn’t mention reject them all, just a couple. Outrageous, yes, but not so much that you just abandon all participation, leaving the worst of the worst to be picked up to represent your side.
It was probably McCarthy undermining Trump, but Trump fell for it. Now he’s stuck whining for the documents.
You're twisting words here, but I'm going to give you the benefit of doubt that it's a simple semantic mistake.
The report wasn't that President Trump would only appear "if the hearings were live," the report was that President Trump would only appear "if he testified live."

Ok! Had no idea. However i must say that the quote fits that posters delusional arguments perfectly.
As antceecee pointed out, the purpose of the House of Representatives is to "represent." If the minority party is denied their full representation on the committee, then the entire committee becomes illegitimate.
It would have been worse for Republicans to still participate and give the committee the imprimatur of full and complete representation of the will of the people.
It was probably McCarthy undermining Trump, but Trump fell for it. Now he’s stuck whining for the documents.
I'm not even going to go there. That's such an outrageous conclusion on your part.

When I read the post of certain people on these threads then I realize that FR has been infiltrated for far more years than I ever realized.
Yup!
He didn’t boycott them out of fear, he boycotted them because they were completely illegitimate- the Republicans were denied the right to choose their committee members- and participating in them would have been used to legitimize them. The Dems tried to use Cheney, who was not selected by GOP house leadership, to give the one party “hearings” the illusion of legitimacy.
Even in Jr. High we knew only guilty people destroy evidence.
He's the Lineman, not amusing.
Queueing up ludicrous replies one after another.
I’m not sure I understand this person’s ecolanatioon: Trump or anyone would still have Dur Orocess rights even if he were charged with sedition, etc. No one ever loses the right to Due Process.
