Law Professor Jonathan Turley Dismantles the Trump Indictment: ‘The American People Aren’t Buying It’ (VIDEO)

Professor Jonathan Turley of George Washington University may be a liberal, but he is an honest man.

He recently appeared on the Sean Hannity show and took apart the Trump indictment piece by piece, leaving it in tatters on the floor.

Turley said that it was completely understandable why the American people think we have a two-tiered justice system and called the Trump indictement an attack on free speech.

Transcript via Real Clear Politics:

TURLEY: This is a free speech-killing indictment. There’s no way around it. I write a great deal in academia in the free-speech area and I rarely seen a more chilling filing by the Department of Justice. The question that people have to ask themselves is, when is the price too high? People are obviously enraged, but what is the price too high to bag Donald Trump? This indictment is that prohibitive cost. Meaning, what they are attempting to do is criminalize what they consider to be disinformation.

And I have to tell you, this indictment is really sad moment for me. I hoped that Smith is going to indict on January 6th, that he would find unassailable evidence and unquestioned legal authority. He has neither in this indictment…

This is a speaking indictment but it doesn’t say very much. It basically just says that we think Trump is lying that he actually didn’t believe this. I can’t tell you how faciously ridiculous this claim is. It starts up by saying, of course, you can say false things in the campaign, but then says that Trump knew they were false. Is that the test going forward in terms of criminalizing political speech?

I am so sick of the 20 robots that Fox has on repeatedly, interspersed with the 40 minutes of repetitive commercials every hour.

Gee, Jonny...Stalinists have always done that. You just now discovered that’s who they are?

Trump is to be tried for Wrongthink. And going forward, all of us will be held to this standard: if Merrick Garland doesn’t like the way you think, he will put you in a camp.

And it’s no joke. This is being done as we watch to the President of the United States.

Where have you been hiding the past three years?

They tried to force us to all take the shot.

Took a Supreme Court decision at the wire to save us.

They don’t need America to buy it. Trump tops the vote at 47%. How he gets that other 4% is all the rats have to worry about. It will not turn their voters off. Independents-they’re all squishes. The democrats will do what they’re best at. They’ll hit below the belt. Just look at Schiff.

EVERY politician, at every level, even the cowardly, lockstep Democrats, needs to realize what's going on. If you don't toe the Obama line, you're dust.

Well there is a remedy. On its best day FNC is controlled opposition. On most days it is not much different than the 3 networks. Our last day was the day they fired Tucker. They are dead to me.

While Professor Turkey is absolutely right (as always), it quite literally doesn’t make any difference.

Phony indictments by phony prosecutors, brought to liberal judges, in liberal courts with liberal juries who don’t hide the fact that they don’t care about the Constitution, the law or fairness.

I really hate to admit it, but I think there is no way that the DC jury, if not the others convict and imprison DJT - regardless of the evidence. If he manages to appeal his case(s) to SCOTUS (which guaranteed) he would most assuredly be completely exonerated.

There isn’t nearly enough time to before the election for DJT to recover. While DJT will have a huge turnout voting for him, I just don’t see him getting enough of the independent vote to offset the left’s cheating.

Spoiler alert: DOJ will fail to find enough evidence to prosecute FJB on bribery or unlawful possession and retention of classified documents . . .

They will prosecute their way to a 70% Independent majority and flip the needed states.

Independents are not moderates. They care about different issues than GOPe and DEMe like taxes and spending. They care about the swamp and build the wall. And they can see that this is political prosecution.

Don’t look at any evidence. Look at which party holds the DOJ. Ask yourself, if there was a MAGA atty general, would these prosecutions be happening? No. Therefore, it is political. Evidence irrelevant.

They will prosecute him right into the White House. He’ll pardon himself for everything and start staffing the government . . . not with Republicans. With MAGA folks, many of them Independents.

This latest Biden DOJ Indictment Of Trump Is A Declaration Of War
Against American Voters......not about Trump. It’s about:
<><>criminalizing dissent
<><>punishing the millions who voted for him —
<><>and warning them not to do it again.

The indictment reads more like a Washington Post editorial with its contention that
<><>Trump was “determined to remain in power”
<><>and so “spread lies” that there had been fraud
<><>to “create an intense national atmosphere of mistrust and anger,
<><>and erode public faith in the administration of the election.”

If contending that a presidential election was stolen is illegal,
<><>where is Al Gore’s indictment?
<><>No Democrats have ever been charged for claiming that Bush was elected by hanging chads,
<><>for challenging his election both times in Congress.

No indictments for spreading lies and launching investigations
for false claims that Trump had been elected by the Russians.

Even as they themselves tarred Trump in order to
“create an intense national atmosphere of mistrust and anger.”

For anyone who lived through Election Night 2020, and watched Trump winning comfortably at 11:00 P.M. EST, only to lose that massive lead by the following morning, skepticism about the election will always remain intense. (And it seems more people are getting skeptical by the day.)

That skepticism is hardened by stories of municipalities that actually stopped counting during the night and reopened with large Biden pluralities.

I am convinced that the Deranged Jack Smith TRIED TO GET MORE SERIOUS CHARGES AND THE GRAND JURY WOULD NOT BUY IT.

First, Smith’s announcement was delayed SEVERAL TIMES. RED FLAG.

Second, take a look at his face and demeanor when he announced the charges at the FAKE PRESS CONFERENCE.

HE WAS PISSED!!!

I compare the 4-count indictment of Trump to a word salad spewed by Kamala Harris. Like Harris’ word salad, it fails to stick to the wall and ends up on the bottom of their shoes—or, in Harris case, in her lap!

Those commercials pay for the extensive line of contributors who share their unique perceptions on the issues at hand. Fox is the best in the world.
