I never realized how really Marxist the library industry was until just a few years ago. I always pictured it as run by sweet little old ladies who held, if not conservative, then at least moderate views.
I finally put it together when word that library branches in my large city were hot hookup spots for fags. They didn’t have anything to fear from the complicit librarians.
The only time I went into a public library in the past thirty years was to get some free flower seeds. I was yelled at twice for not wearing a mask. I put one on to go get the seeds and then took it off. I asked the “Karen” whether she was going to throw me out or just let me leave. Haha. Good memory.

Public Libraries cannot have any political mission and the Library itself cannot state a political position the Library holds, or it is not a “public” Library for all the people. A public Library for all the people must itself, its infratructure and working staff, be 100% nuetral in political affairs. If it is not then is not working for “all the people”, just those it - the Library and its staff - agree with.

Don’t equate the ALA w/ your local library. The ALA sets standards not for porn-stations for the homeless (well, maybe) but for public schools and universities and for the methods and types of information available to them.
The stated purpose of the ALA is “to promote library service and librarianship” ... Twist leftward from there, and propaganda and censorship become the purpose of a once great organization.
