I think grocery stores have a very small profit margin anyway. Closing hurts the neighborhoods as well but I can’t expect them to lose money.

Yep. 1-3%. They survive because food is an absolute necessity.

Liquor stores thrive in those same neighborhoods. Maybe the key is small stores, lots of security, big black gates and bars on all the windows...

Or better - a system of free memberships... anyone caught stealing loses their membership... forever.
