There is no defense for Trump's attack on Kayleigh ‘Milktoast' McEnany
Hot Air ^ | May 31, 2023 | Karen Townsend

Kayleigh McEnany came under attack by her former boss on Truth Social last night. His very thin skin was pierced by the former White House press secretary, now a Fox News host and contributor. Kayleigh quoted a poll number Trump disagreed with and he went full force against her on his social media platform.

(snip)

Kayleigh was hired by Trump to replace Sarah Huckabee Sanders. I really liked Sarah in the job, too. Both women had the ability to stand firm against the daily attacks by the press corps and defend Trump. They didn’t back down when the dialogue heated up, which it frequently did. Kayleigh was poised and very matter-of-fact in her answers, as a Harvard law school graduate, her training showed. She was a regular on CNN, the epicenter of Trump Derangement Syndrome, and would defend Trump as she sat for panel discussions. The panel was always Democrat-heavy because it was CNN, after all. She was a champ.

So, Kayleigh landed at Fox after her time at the White House came to an end. There is no doubt in my mind that Trump would have kept her as his press secretary if he served a second term. He praised her and her tenacity in defending her. Now that she sometimes speaks favorably of Ron DeSantis – she is a Florida resident and he is her governor – she is on Trump’s disloyal list. Loyalty goes only one way for Trump.

(snip)

No one worked harder for Trump than Kayleigh. Trump’s reaction to her appearance on the Watters show is indefensible. He is an old and bitter man, obsessed with avenging his election loss in 2020. He acts as though he will remain 30 or more points ahead in the polls. That isn’t realistic.

Didn’t she trash Trump after the January 6 fiasco? Why couldn’t she cite the correct poll numbers? Has she turned against Trump and is giving the DeSantis team inside information on Trump for a future job if he’d somehow win?

"Trump’s lack of discipline, and very thin skin, which the Democrats will poke, risk losing an election that should be a comfortable victory for the Republicans."

This!

Was she correct on poll numbera or was Trum?

If she was not, she either didn’t do the work (unlikely) or she is now pushing Murdoch and Fox News narratives.

We already know Fox News lies, has she become a Fox News anchor only, is she now turning on a former boss because the current boss says so?

Has she turned against Trump

I think all of FOX is now told to be pro- DeSantis and anti-Trump if they want a paycheck. They aren't journalists or commentators with free rein.

If the poll is wrong, Trump is no respecter of persons, pushing it.

Do. you think that any of these people on Fox are really supporting Trump?

Since Tucker was kicked out, I’ve turned them off.

She was handed a false poll and she went with it.

Winston Churchill famously said, "You can't kick every dog that barks." It's wisdom that would serve Donald Trump well if he would only heed it. These continual petty, childish attacks on anyone and everyone he perceives as an adversary, whether they actually are or not, diminishes him in the eyes of many potential voters.

Yes, it's red meat for his zealots, but it's going to cost him the election. Assuming the DNC fraud machine doesn't do it first.

Yes, he is a disgrace, his behavior is disgraceful. It’s embarrassing. He may be ahead in the polls today, but does actions like this add voters or lose them? When he loses, or dropped out before hand, it will be his fault his problem. Though, I am sure he’ll blame all of us.

Republicans certainly have a predictable way to lose again in 2024; nominate Trump.

Trump is his own worst enemy. He could sail smoothly to the nomination if he would concentrate on attacking Democrats and be silent about his republican opponents. However, his obsession with the 2020 election results and attacking opponents will only cause him to lose votes and perhaps the nomination. He looks childish with his personal attacks and it shows a lack of restraint on his part. As a former Trump Loyalist, I am now moving towards DeSantis as Trump persues self destruction.

Yea, Trump needs to be more like Churchill; "Churchill admitted he relied on alcohol. He always had a glass of whiskey by him, and he drank brandy and champagne both at lunchtime and dinner."

Not an attack.

He pointed out she was timid, following what she was told.

I definitely wouldn’t want to meet Kayleigh in a corn eating contest.

Exactly.

One more former trump associate who is now paid to hurt him.

Fair game.

Trump seems to be doing his best to turn a red Florida into a swing state again.

Why piss off so many people that like Desantis when his lead is so large? This is crazy town!

She was handed a false poll and she went with it.

And looked and sounded happy about it. I just watched the video. No mystery to me why he is prissed.

While Hitler was a teetotaler. There's a lesson there.

Who cares what a poll this far out says? You attack an ally who has taken the fire for you because she says you’re up 25 and not 34? Paranoid. Bitter. Obsessive-Compulsive? The country has decided: They do not want a second Biden term. Is he gonna blow it?
