It’s amazing that the black people who were born closer to the time of slavery did not suffer as much as those who have been born in the past 20 years or so. Previously, black people were succeeding, buying homes, growing families, creating businesses, and otherwise moving up the ladder of success. It was only after Obama was elected did they find out that a re-emergence of “white supremacy” was the culprit that caused all their woes. (I’m discounting Sharpton and Jackson’s fake rhetoric in the intervening years).

IANAL, and I hate to be a party pooper, but my understanding is that legal damages are often calculated by assessing the current financial state of the aggrieved party, and comparing that to what their financial state would have been had the tort not occurred.
