Every since robot workers became a reality (thanks to the auto industry) there is always a balance with the cost of the robot versus the cost of a human doing the same thing.
Now that the left managed to get the cost of minimum wage workers higher then the value they bring to the job, robots become more cost effective.
This is not the first time this has occurred and it will not be the last.
As a child of the 1950s I can think of dozen of jobs that that existed simply because labor was cheap. Anyone remember going to a gas station in the 1950s and having several attendants surround your car washing your windows, checking tire pressure and oil levels all while filling the tank with 25 cents a gallon of gas?
Or go into a store and there would be many clerks there ready and willing to help you.
Don’t forget office workers, the secretaries and mail clerks and janitors, receptionist and so on.
The milkman, iceman and the bakery goods guy all were able to support a family on their low wages. All gone now.
Technology and labor cost either made their work redundant or too expensive for businesses.
So yes, fast food places are going with more automation and less humans (as is any other business that can will).
Not just the US but the world is going to face a surplus of labor, then what is going to happen?
Wars and Pandemics have been used in the past to reduce the population but surely today’s leaders would not do that, would they?
Yeah!
I was making $1.25 an hour.
