Agreed. The russians are mafia thugs. Why would they destroy one of their own tools of leverage? It would be like the crime boss, Viggo, from the John Wick movie burning his own blackmail tapes.

Don’t get me wrong. Putin is a moron who put Russia in a glide slope towards being a Chinese vassal state. His invasion of Ukraine is beyond stupid.
But there was zero reason for Russia to do this and all the reasons in the world for Biden or Ukraine to do this.
More to the point, whatever is wrong with Biden’s brain makes him spit out random truths. He said he was going to blown it up, just like he said he had the largest vote fraud organization in the world.

The US or UK blew it up to keep Germany from going wobbly. The destruction of their economy by choice if the pipeline was intact. Germans would have taken the gas and made some back room deals or the citizens would have thrown their own politicians out …. The only option was to make the pipelines not an option.
