At my age I have a lot of cracks in my mind. After letting this settle in, and steep over a cuppa coffee, the overriding thoughts are; Though I bookmarked this, and printed a copy, sent it on to people I think comprehend (the few), I am struck that none of this will survive. Paper burns and fades, technology fails.
If we implant thoughts such as this in enough minds, someday sane and wise people will know how and why it happened. Maybe they can approximate the heights “The West” ascended to.
Is knowing that you are going to die worse, or knowing that history will die? I am voting on history dying as a fate worse than death.
We worked and sacrificed, on the backs of our fathers and grandfathers work and sacrifice. Only to watch it be pissed away like MD 20/20 from a street bum.
Some people tell me to look optimistically towards the future. That is not possible in 2023. For the Religious? We are heading for eventual happiness. For the educated? Technology will save us. For the working class? Chains on our ankles and necks.
This country, and the Western nations can turn from this path, but they are deluded. The deluded rarely make competent leaders or citizens. It will take a miracle, but as a struggling Christian, I think a return to slavery is just what is promised. TO “EGYPT” once more.
