Barnes has an interesting take on the Fox/Tucker Carlson dynamic starting at about 40 minutes in.
What is the gist?
Barnes posits that the real reason Carlson parted ways was that Fox wanted mord editorial control over his show and Carlson refused.
Carlson was put in after O'Reilly departure, with Fox believing that he would still be on the Bushie plantation.
Talks about other Fox personalities as Fox creations (like Hannity)
Carlson was drawing in a younger demographic valuable to advertisers
Fox really didn't understand the dynamic, only that Ailes recognized a potential market back in the 1990s.

Thanks. Thought I was the only one who watched Frei/Barnes on here. I posted this link on one of the many FR threads last night. Been following them for a few months now.
I’ve been a subscriber to their locals channel since it got started over a year ago...maybe 2 years.
Barnes had been saying for a while that Tucker wasn’t going to be at Fox much longer, that he was going to be forced out and had had some discussions about what he would do when he left. The firing may have been a surprise to Tucker at the moment he learned of it, but he knew this was coming for some time.
BTW, some of Tucker’s staff including his executive producer who left Fox with Tucker subscribe to the Viva Frei/Robert Barnes locals channel and talk to Barnes. They and Barnes of course are also friends with Alex Jones.

Not a regular watcher. Frei got my attention with his coverage of the Canadian truckers strike.
Nah, I watch all their Rumble videos. I enjoy them.. I watch Robert when he guests on the Duran and America’s Untold Stories.
I agree with Barnes that there’s more to this than appears on the surface. My first clue was the ridiculously high settlement. How can a $50 million company like Dominion claim $1.6 billon in damages and Fox agree to settle for $787 million? That amount is way out of line as far as a damage claim. The elites like Blackrock and the rest just wanted Tucker silenced. If it was really just about Dominion the others would have been fired too.
I had just posted this felt more like a deplatforming move than anything to do with the settlement or rumors of a staffer issue.
I first came across Frei during the covid scam too. He’s a sharp guy and always has a good take on things.
Coincidence much? Hell no.
