The Nebraska Legislature passed LB77, the Constitutional Carry bill today at 11:28. The vote was 33 to 14 for the third cloture vote. Each closure vote requires 33 votes to move the legislation forward.
Nebraska Governor (R) Jim Pillen has said he will sign the bill.
Nebraska will be the 26th state to restore Constitutional Carry. Florida has enacted permitless carry. There are 27 permitless carry states.
All Constitutional Carry states have permitless carry, but Florida does not allow general open carry, so is not a true Constitutional Carry state.
Nice to see, Nebraska!
I’m in Florida. No open carry. At least we got permitless carry this year.
Im honestly suprised. Nebraska may be Conservative, but its nanny state.
A majority of states are now CC states! Yay!!!
There is no place like Nebraska.
A supermajority has been willing to pass it for years.
The safeguards which were put in when the unicameral legislature was voted in, make it very difficult to pass legislation to which there is opposition.
So should the governor be President if he signs this?
Excellent!
Louisiana and South Carolina are on deck.
North Carolina - now that the Republicans have a super majority in the legislature and now that they got rid of the Jim Crow pistol purchase permit law, is warming up.
It doesn’t feel like it sometimes but we are slowly winning this fight against the Gun Grabbers.
Will they still arrest you if your concealed becomes revealed?
No. That's been Florida law for some time.
The Statute:
"It is not a violation of this section for a person licensed to carry a concealed firearm as provided in s. 790.06(1), and who is lawfully carrying a firearm in a concealed manner, to briefly and openly display the firearm to the ordinary sight of another person, unless the firearm is intentionally displayed in an angry or threatening manner, not in necessary self-defense."
Outstanding!
