George Burns made it to 100, and about 40 days more.
I read that Paul tried to ease Linda’s passage when she was near death. He tried to get her to remember and visualize one of the happiest memories she had which was riding on a horse and feeling carefree. He thinks he succeeded.
Such a sad thing.
I thought about his doing that after my wife died at home quietly last year and that I didn’t know she was going to be gone during a time of maybe two minutes as I left the room and came back. No doctor said she was in her last days or anything like that. I think it was best that way that she didn’t suffer or have to dread knowing she was dying.
My 26 year-old godson was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer, only the 8th or 9th case treated at Sloan Kettering in NY. About two weeks before he died there was a knock on his hospital room door and a fellow with a Taylor guitar introduced himself, said he used to be in a band and wanted to spend a few minutes with Justin if that was alright.
Forty-five minutes later, after playing, singing and talking,he pulled out a Sharpie, autographed the guitar and left, leaving the $1400 guitar with my godson. It now sits on Justin’s bed in his childhood home. No one has played it since.
And that’s how Paul got to be my favorite Beatle.
What an amazing story. God bless your godson in heaven.
Compare them to Michael Jackson & Elvis in terms of fan hysteria. Obvious difference is the Beatles were not a sole singer, but had each other to support or diffuse the madness of fame.
That is a great story. God Bless your godson.
Linda and Paul McCarty promoted an end to animal research testing for diseases, and tried everything to have them outlawed. Then she developed cancer and used these same treatments to save her life. Hypocrite.
A wonderful story.
