WEBSTER: discernment: the quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure. In its simplest definition, discernment is nothing more than the ability to decide between truth and error, right and wrong.
Discernment isn’t about confirming something you hope or want to be true. And it’s not about making you feel better about what you already believe.
Discernment requires honest truth-seeking. You have to want to know the truth, even if it means letting go of a belief you’ve had for a long time.

Also, Dozens of classified US documents which were leaked and circulated online have started to disappear, or at least become much more difficult to find. But where did they come from?
We’ve pieced together what we know about how they first appeared, where they spread, and who’s been discussing them.
Documents posted
The first screenshots of the documents we’ve been able to verify were posted on 1 March. More appeared a few days later.
They appeared on Discord - a social media platform popular with gamers - and were shared on several discussion channels.
These channels aren’t about politics or military intelligence, they’re for players of the computer game Minecraft and another for fans of a Filipino YouTube celebrity.
In one of the channels, after a brief argument about Minecraft and the war in Ukraine, a user says “here, have some leaked documents” and posts several screenshots.

One image - widely circulated by Russian channels - was edited to reduce the number of Russian troops killed and inflate the Ukrainian losses.
By 7 April, the documents were also circulating on some of the major social media platforms, such as Twitter and Reddit.
Russian response
Initially, pro-Kremlin Telegram channels who shared the screenshots did not dwell much on the authenticity of the documents, focusing largely on their content.
But soon several prominent channels and media outlets started to lean towards portraying the documents as at least partly fake.
An expert quoted by ultranationalist news website Regnum suggested the documents may be a deliberate leak aimed at providing a smokescreen for the coming Ukrainian counter-offensive.
On state TV, Yuri Podolyaka, a prominent war commentator, said this was “planted information” intended to mislead Russia about the counter-offensive.
Olga Skabeyeva, host of state Rossiya 1 TV’s 60 Minutes talk show said the West had been doing “all it can to create the image of a weak Ukraine whose shells are running out and which has nothing left at all”.

The FBI arrested Jack Teixeira in connection with the leaking of classified documents that have been posted online.
Teixeira, 21, is a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard. His arrest comes following a fast-moving search by the US government for the identity of the leaker who posted classified documents to a social media platform popular with video gamers.
Update on Russian military operations in Ukraine for April 12, 2023:
- Russian forces continue taking territory around the fortified cities of Avdeevka and Bakhmut;
- Russian forces now control much of the west bank of the Bakhmutka River;
- A Ukrainian missile fired deep into Crimea (and intercepted by Russian air defenses) may have been a Ukrainian Grom-2, comparable to the Iskander missile with a range of 500km;
- Despite the capabilities of the Grom-2 and potential NATO assistance to produce them (most likely in Poland) it is unlikely these missiles will appear in numbers large enough to overwhelm Russian air defenses;
- NYT admits Ukrainian air defenses are deteriorating, allowing Russia to more freely use its military aviation;
- While Western analysts claim this development may not translate into Russian success, arriving at this juncture is already very much a Russian success;

I am a Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the four hundred and fourteenth day of the war.
Day 414: April 13
“The freshest reports suggest that Wagner forces failed to maintain such a high number of assaults per day because today it was revealed that Wagner Group asked Russian conventional forces to help them inside Bakhmut. This information was confirmed today by Ukrainian fighters in the aftermath of massive changes in the southern part of the region.
Here, in order to even out the front line, Ukrainian forces withdrew from the high-rise buildings east of the stadium Avangard and moved closer to the main defense line along the railways. Russian forces noticed the movement and tried to move rapidly into the left territories. As Russians got close, it became quite risky to continue withdrawal across the railways, so Ukrainians decided to make a swift counterattack. Today, a Ukrainian soldier from the 240th Assault Brigade reported that they conducted a raid on Russian positions east of Kosmonavtov Street, which caught Russians by surprise. As a result, Russians lost dozens of men, and another Ukrainian soldier involved in this attack said that it ensured that Russians would spend the whole night collecting their fallen soldiers.
But most importantly, Ukrainians noticed that a lot of Russian troops did not belong to the Wagner Group. Yesterday, the Head of the Wagner forces, Prigozhin, said that Wagners only withdrew from the flanks and are the only forces that operate inside Bakhmut. Several months ago, Wagner Group had enough forces to be solely responsible for a 90 km front from Siversk to Toretsk. Today they do not have enough forces to operate on a 5 km front. It seems like Ukrainians indeed almost achieved their objective of completely destroying Wagner Group Private Military Company, which is the only Russian formation that showed some results.
However, the bad news for Russians did not end there. As I said previously, it is highly unlikely that Ukrainians will just leave intact high-rise buildings for Russian snipers. Several hours ago, Ukrainians released footage showing how they distantly blew up one high-rise building after another. Some Wagner fighters complained that on top of mining buildings, Ukrainians also frequently set them on fire, which not only does not allow Russian to move faster but also leaves them very few tactically meaningful positions.
When it comes to the epicenter of all fights, the train station, despite the claims of Russian sources, the train station remains under Ukrainian control. A Ukrainian soldier reported at 10 pm that another Russian attempt to advance toward the station was repelled. He said that Russians are heavily relying on artillery and aviation to undermine Ukrainian defense here. Recently released footage shows Russian Grads located somewhere near Pokrovske firing west towards the sunset, in the direction of Bakhmut. In between the assaults, these Grad systems are using incendiary shells to burn everything down. As a result, the buildings that surround the train stations are almost entirely black from burning, although, judging by the results, it did not help them much.
In the southern part of the region, the Ukrainian 1st Border Detachment reported achieving some progress. As you remember, for the last two days, they were largely on the defensive and were repelling intense attacks that lasted for up to 3 hours each. Today, Wagners started sending fewer troops in the same attacks, losing a full squad at a time. A soldier from the Aidar Battalion said that the control over Korsunskogo Street has increased compared to the last few days.
Overall, the establishment of a powerful defense line along the railways allowed Ukrainians to withstand the most challenging days of the renewed Wagner offensive effort and inflict substantial losses to their forces. All Russian sources are saying that there is no sign that Ukrainians are preparing to leave Bakhmut, so in order to prevent a premature culmination of their offensive, Wagner Group was urgently reinforced by regular Russian troops that are already fighting side by side with mercenaries.”
