Christians’ way to LIVE——
I’d say the Way to Die.

Pick up Your Cross and Follow Me.
Jesus
This is about the only movie worth watching out there. If it’s still in theatres go see it.
Mr. mm and I went to see Jesus Revolution when it first came out as we didn’t know how long it would be in theaters since it was a Christian movie. Sometimes those are just a flash in the pan events.
The place was packed.
This was not a great movie, but it was very good. I LOVED it.
The characters are not wooden cut-outs. Stereotypes are necessary, but the actors here seemed like real people with real good sides and bad. It was sensitively done. Kelsey Gramer was excellent.
As an aside, I was there in 1971, at the crest of the movement. I went to Calvary Chapel to see what all the fuss was about. It was not my particular style, but it was authentically spiritual. I was a college junior at the time. A friend of mine and I went numerous times as we did a term project on what we observed. We had fellow students pass out surveys of the Jesus Freaks (not pejorative, as that was what they called themselves). Others spent nights in the communes. We wrote a term paper on our research that got published in a sociological journal in February of 1972 (after it was blessed and breathed on by our professor).
I found the movie to be a trip down memory road. It was an accurate portrayal of the Jesus Movement. It was strangely uplifting. I recommend it to anyone even slightly interested.
Movies about the lives of modern-day, or even past Christians are just fine, if they are well done. But most are, as the authors states, embarrassments for the cause. I liked Chariots of Fire, but since then other Christian-themed movies have fallen short.
Great movie.
When one door closes, another door opens...
We haven’t seen this, but “Flywheel” was very good! Will have to find if/where this is playing anywhere nearby.
DW and I both liked the movie.
We regularly attend our local Calvary Chapel. Our church bought out the entire local theater one Saturday in March. We invited the entire congregation and guests. Packed the place. Sang hymns before the show.
We are not a wealthy church and had concerns about the cost vs. our budget, but it ended up that donations were a little bit more than the cost of the theater. A great experience and attending as a group was unique.
I have not seen it yet. But tell me, is it completely in line with the true gospel as told in the Bible or is it some gospel based on todays progressive unbiblical gospel preached by the many false teachers like Joel Osteen? I dare say that 99% of todays professing Christians do not follow the gospel in the Bible so a 99% Rotten Tomato does not surprise me. I will see it when it comes to streaming and I hope I am wrong, but I will be shocked if I am.
I liked the movie. The only thing that bugged me was chacters saying a church was their church. It is His church, TBH.
This movie was filmed in part at my home church, St. Paul’s Episcopal, in Daphne, AL...just about this time last year, they filmed there for two weeks. It was very exciting; very gratifying to see our parish in the movie! Also gave me a new insight in what it takes to make a major motion picture.
Which, with its honest conviction and real repentance, may be their best.
Often contrived as well. But one of my favorites is below. While I believe the "rapture" is the "first resurrection" at the end of the tribulation, yet some of the old "rapture" movies in essence portrayed some of basic developments which current events are precursors of. Clk on image to enlarge.
