Trump lashes out at DeSantis, says he regrets his endorsement of him

Former President Donald Trump is intensifying his attacks on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, calling him disloyal and saying that his political career would have been over had he not endorsed his ultimately successful 2018 campaign.

“He was dead as a dog, he was a dead politician. He would have been working perhaps for a law firm or doing something else,” Trump told a small group of reporters aboard his plane on Monday afternoon en route to Iowa, where he was to make an appearance that evening.

Trump spent nearly ten minutes going after DeSantis, who is widely viewed as his most formidable challenger for the Republican nomination. The Florida governor, who is expected to launch his campaign following the end of the state’s legislative session in May, has been embarking on a swing of early primary states to promote his newly released memoir — including in Iowa, where he appeared on Friday.

That level of adoration over a politician is mind boggling. Especially one as flawed as Donald LGBTrump.

It’s amazing to see the rabid attacks on people for merely stating that they think Trump is saying things that could hurt his chances at re-election.

No I don’t think it’s going to work this time.

This behavior worked last time because it was a surprise. However I know of many people who have supported Trump who have been frustrated and angry at what looks like Trump’s desperation to get the spotlight.

We love you Mr. President... but I’ll believe this when he moves back to Trump Tower.

You can’t live here... when you can live anywhere... and tell us the Governor is terrible... makes no sense.

Thanks MM. Unfortunately Trump’s not about to stop either. I lot of his core supporters love him for his rudeness more than anything else, and Trump knows it.

This was an interesting article today. It starts out poorly, but try reading it without dismissing it solely for where it was printed. I thought it made some interesting points near the end.

No.

Trump is acting like a crazy old uncle.

DeSantis only has to look over his head and address the real issues that concern people and treat Trump like a beloved but crazy uncle...in other words do t respond to his rantings and he will be untouched.

People are not looking for a pissing match. They are looking for a solutions focused conservative who will help put the country back on track.

And he has already turned off enough moderates and independents that ar this point he is unelectable. Even if he doesn’t split the conservatives (which he already has) there are not enough of us to win a nationwide election. Watch him run 3rd party and give us 4 more years of senile Joe

Any of "Donald Trump's hardcore supporters" who would refuse to support and vote for Ron DeSantis, should he win the nomination, are stupid and evil.

Wrong! For the last 7 years, I've saluted a life-size cutout of President Trump that stands by my front door every day I leave the house.

Some of my friends, and even family don't understand. However, for the first time in my life a politician told me how special, smart and elite I was, and I appreciate that.

From my porch, I may have a very different view than a NYC penthouse or FL mansion, but I can tell President Trump has similar concerns to me. I'm not going to vote for just anyone.

It’s simple. Trump was not on the inside and fought for the people. The others are phonies and I would never support them. Desanctimonius, by turning on Trump in support of Paul Ryan says all I, personally, need to know. I will not support him. Easily woo’d by power.

Personally I would prefer a debate instead of an insult match.

It would go poorly for Trump

It’s not that he’s running against Trump. It’s that he is clearly the never Trumper candidate and is loving every minute of him. I don’t see a difference between what’s he’s doing and what Romney did.

I sincerely hope this was satire...but I'm afraid it probably wasn't.

DESANTIS is a scholar athlete, a lawyer and veteran.

He’s a brilliant guy who will continue to ignore Trump, who is looking desperate.

Trump has become boring, and it’s tedious listening to him.

DeSantis is beholden to his Neocon donors. Trump is not and is despised by the establishment. I don’t care how childish Trump behaves. A vote for DeSantis is a vote for the Bushies’ agenda. Remember Jeb was a good governor too. Then look what happened.

Maybe, maybe not. I believe that there is a growing majority of people who are dissatisfied with BOTH parties. The Uniparty has been a disaster for America.

Look how easily DeSantis has turned on Trump who has been so kind to him, so supportive of him. He will turn on us just as fast. You can believe it. He really already has by dividing the Maga movement at this very key juncture. He now has us fighting each other just what The Uniparty wants.

DeSantis will never get my vote under any circumstances.

“ Even if DeSantis were to win the nomination, he cannot win the general election without Donald Trump’s hardcore supporters. “

Hey, I’ve a great idea regarding this —— have Ronald pick Donald as his VP.
