Dr. Peter Navarro was Trump’s WH advisor on the economy. That is who he is!

Not sure how you figure I don't know who Peter Navarro is?

No I just don’t make it my business to know who every lowlife politician is. Are you stupid or do you not have other things to do with your life?

I think Navarro is mad at Murdoch and Fox, and not so much Tucker.

But it's worth noting what we have a problem here.

Fox seems to be shutting down Trump folks.

And Twitter and Musk seem to be shutting down those same folks because they are anti China.

And a lot of people aren't recognizing yet what's going on. I think that's what Navarro is pointing out.

Peter Navarro was a trade advisor to Trump (Trump did a great job on trade, for example, replacing NAFTA). Navarro also defended Trump immigration doctrine aka the TrumpWall. he is the author of several books on economics. his background includes harvard and a phd in economics.

Navarro was subpoenaed by the congressional Jan. 6 kangaroo court. he chose the high road and refused to comply. the predictable result was that the fbi goons showed up at his house and arrested him. he is now indicted for contempt of congress.

it should be noted here that while tucker largely reports national news, navarro has done his share of actually making national news. he has had his ups and downs like everyone but on certain matters such as the economy he is probably one of the more informed if not more sane voices in the current political wilderness.

ironically tucker and navarro appear to be fighting on the same side in regards to the jan. 6 incident.

i join others who have expressed their dismay with those in this forum who profess that they do not know who peter navarro is. how can people argue about current events if they are not familiar with recent past history? —especially if they consider themselves as conservatives and/or pro-trump...

woops...

i need to correct myself that navarro was not arrested at home. he was arrested at an airport just prior to boarding a plane, and strip searched.

say what one will about navarro, not only does he talk the talk, but (unlike so many others) he walks the walk.

"Second, his on-air populist, nationalist personality aside, Tucker appears to care more about ratings than policy. Put simply,
Tucker is not a MAGA true believer but simply a pragmatist who, like a jeweler with precision taps at the resentments of his audience.
This, too, is revealed in the email correspondence recently leaked."
Recognizing the character of who says they are on our side is not going after them.
It is watching our backs, and ever so often checking for knives in them.

What Tucker is doing seems to be the height of arrogance. In effect, Tucker thinks his ratings are so big that he can set himself up as a powerbroker in the 2024 presidential race as if he were the actual Fox network itself – such questionnaires the sponsorship of debates are typically the province of the network itself, across the cable news diaspora.

To put this another way, Tucker is sending out questionnaires to presidential candidates in the an apparent belief that because the show is so popular and highly rated, these candidates must kiss Tucker’s ring and fill out those questionnaires – or risk retribution if a candidate fails to answer the questionnaire.

Seems fairly obvious what the politicians should do to disprove Mr. Carlson: Simply don't send back the questionnaires! Then wait and see if there are any repercussions.

Easy-peasy!

The NRA sends out a questionnaire on 2nd Amendment issues to all Senate and House candidates for both state and national elections.

Most of us understand Tucker is mostly about ratings - it's a TV show, it's what they do.

He gives coverage to things his viewers want to see that other networks don't.

Doesn't do it perfectly, but I wouldn't toss the baby out with the bathwater.

What happened to posters here and what have they done with Free Republic. I feel like I’m reading DU
.
Yes, it’s been infiltrated by the pro pharma, pro war activists/bots, etc. They have successfully and intentionally run off very good posters. Advice for Jim/Chris; run those people off the board and donations will improve. I’ll jump back in best I can.

Here is my real concern about giving Tucker so much power to influence the 2024 election. Numero Uno is that Tucker Carlson is not a Donald Trump fan.

Now what exactly was your news flash again, it trailed of and was inaudible?

Oh, so now you are going to blame him with guilt by association?

You must remember that politics is not his sphere of knowledge, other than having donated money to politicians.

There are many people you must surround yourself with to fill positions, because being president is not like whatever job you might engage in.

Therefore you use recommendations made to you by those who should know the best people for some positions. Some work out great, others are snakes who want to destroy him before he can destroy them.

But what you are missing, is that Trump is a fast learner, yet even a fast learner can't learn many many things overnight. It also takes time for people to expose their true selves. Sometimes it takes decades for married people to even find out the truth about their spouses.

He now has experience, while DeSantis, and now some are expressing interest with Vivek Ramaswamy, have to start where Trump started in 2017.

While DeSantis has experience in politics, national politics is completely different from the politics he has been involved in. A president is responsible for every thing that happens in a country, along with the world as well, by many people. even more so by people who can't even manage their own pitiful little lives. That much responsibility upon any person has affects. How many presidents look much better when they go into office then when they leave? Most, because all that responsibility takes its toll upon them.

He is now past that learning curve that was made even more difficult fending off the false claims being leveled against him.

People need to start thinking with their brains, instead of reacting with their emotions. That will get us nowhere, fast. Unless you are happy with what you have seen taking place in this nation, then by all means continue down the path to destruction.

If you want real change, then Donald John Trump is the person to support.

Pity that most here don’t know who he is.

I don’t believe that for a minute. Peter Navarro is fiercely loyal to Trump and I remain cautiously guarded over Tucker’s allegiances. For example, I don’t believe Tucker posted one of the most revealing moments of the J-6 videos, which was the Buffalo Man’s bullhorn telling the crowd to go home outside the Capitol doors. I first saw the video being released on a blog cast by someone I had never heard of. Now, I can’t seem to find that video.
