My attempts to keep the law does NOT strengthen sin.
Again, you are misinterpreting what the Scripture is saying.
My attempts to keep the law are from love of God and Jesus (John 14:15). It is NOT to "ensure my salvation."
("lea"=law)
But what DID he said he came to do?
the strength of sin is the law. 1 Corinthians 15:56.
the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are delivered from the law. Romans 7:5-6.
sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. Romans 7:8.
when the commandment came, sin revived. Romans 7:9.
sin, taking occasion by the commandment. Romans 7:11.
sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. Romans 7:13.
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwells no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I do not find. For the good that I would I do not do: but the evil which I would not do, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. Romans 7:18-20.
Why don’t you actually try reading and studying the New Covenant of the Bible before accusing me of “misinterpreting” the Bible. If you’re not a modern-day Pharisee, you certainly say what the Pharisees of Bible times said.
Get a clue.
Man's police authority, which Paul cites included capital punishment for certain crimes, both before & after Paul's time. Again, you believe Christ died for all sin. I agree. That doesn't mean that criminals and murders are absolved of punishment prescribed by law -- again Rom 13:4 supports this view. You seem opposed to man's law imposing capital punishment but not other forms of punishment. I believe Paul would disagree.
But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” - Luke 23:40,41
We also can adopt such precedents as well Katie. Cuts both ways.
