The vast majority of people in Michigan never travel more than 150 miles north of the southern border.

I’ve enjoyed the outdoors my whole life (I am in my 70s), with camping, hunting, backpacking, hiking, etc. In all those years I rarely saw a “POC” in the woods, in the mountains, or on the trail. About forty years ago I asked a co-worker, who was black, why were blacks so scarce in the outdoors. His answer was, “That @#$% is for white people; we aren’t that stupid.” I thought, “Good; then stay away from the outdoors so I can enjoy it.”
“of color” is another one of those jibberish, made-up terms we’re supposed to just jump up and use, ‘cause they said so. Sorry, not.
Leadership should be a job achieved through merit and hard work. Apply for the job, after you’ve earned it, not expecting it as a token.

I live near a very large, undeveloped urban city park that has miles of hiking trails, up and down the hills - biking too. It’s very very rare that we see any blacks on the trials, even the very easy ones near the bottom.
And I’ve been hiking in that park for 30 years.
