Putin's big invasion anniversary speech: The West made me commit genocide, y'know
Hot Air ^ | February 21, 2023 | Ed Morrisey

Blah blah blah. Vladimir Putin showed no sign of coming off message in his address on the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine. He also showed no sign of remorse or even original thought.

In a speech clearly intended to resonate with the Russians’ cultural mix of imperialism and paranoia, Putin insisted that the West have been the aggressors and that Putin’s invasion was in fact a defense of the motherland. “We aren’t fighting the Ukrainian people,” Putin said while spending the past year volleying missiles at their cities:

(snip)

One has to wonder whether the Russians can see through these shabby lies, especially about not “fighting the Ukrainian people.” Almost a year ago, Putin defended the invasion on the basis that there is no such thing as a Ukrainian person. At the time, as well as before and after, Putin argued that Ukraine was in fact Russian and all of its inhabitants were Russian:

(snip)

So today’s speech was nothing new, nor should we have expected it to be. If Putin had actually learned anything, he’d be withdrawing from Ukraine rather than throwing more cannon fodder into the battles. Putin has instead mobilized and deployed hundreds of thousands of replacements, but the impact of those new forces has been negligible at best.

"Blah, blah, blah" is pretty much the extent of Putin's speech...

“One has to wonder whether the Russians can see through these shabby lies...”

Plenty of Americans can’t.

“Putin argued that Ukraine was in fact Russian and all of its inhabitants were Russian.”

Then Putin is just genociding his own people rather than genociding others, which kind of makes it worse.

But of course Ukraine is not Russia, by act of RUSSIAN parliament.

What, exactly, are the lies?

Name them, please.

When will the Ukraine supporters on FR actually support Ukraine by going to Ukraine to fight Putin?

Here is a more detailed bullet point of Putin's speech. Vladimir Putin's statements during the announcement of the message to the Federal Assembly:

▪️I speak at a difficult and milestone time for Russia, at a time of cardinal changes all over the world;

▪️Step by step, we will carefully and consistently solve problems within the framework of the SMO;

▪️Donbass believed and waited for Russia to come to the rescue;

▪️Russia did everything possible to solve the problems of Donbass by peaceful means.

▪️The promises of the West about striving for peace in the Donbass turned into a cruel forgery and lies, these countries were engaged in chicanery;

▪️Western countries trained officers of the Ukrainian national battalions and supplied weapons, Kiev negotiated with the West on the supply of weapons before the SMO;

▪️The Ukrainian regime did not solve the problems of Donbass, but simply played for time, committed political assassinations, and mockery of believers;

▪️Kiev made attempts to get nuclear weapons;

▪️About the countries of the West: the method of deception was tested by them before, they cannot be washed off from shame, and the concept of honor is not for them;

▪️Russia firmly defends not only its own interests - the world should not be divided into "civilized" countries and the rest;

▪️Western elites have become a symbol of total unprincipled lies;

▪️The Russian Federation was open to a constructive dialogue with the West and for many years offered to work on a joint security system;

▪️No other country in the world has such many military bases abroad as the United States has - there are hundreds of them, and the whole planet is covered;

▪️ They decided to hide behind an umbrella from us (on actions to expand NATO);

▪️Russia received a direct refusal on all its fundamental security proposals;

▪️By February 2022, it became obvious that everything was ready for the next punitive action of Kiev in the Donbass;

▪️It was they who unleashed the war, and we use force to stop it;

▪️We protect our homes and people's lives, and the goal of the West is unlimited power;

▪️About spending the West on the war: "Where is the talk about the fight against poverty?"

▪️Those who planned attacks on Donbass planned Crimea and Sevastopol as their next target; The West has already spent more than $150 billion on aiding Kiev and supplying it with weapons;

▪️It seems that the accusations against Russia are to make everyone forget what the West has done by plunging entire regions into chaos

▪️On the politics of the West: trillions of dollars are at stake and the ability to continue to rob everyone, planting totalitarian principles

▪️The West in the 1930s opened the way for the Nazis to power in Germany, and in our time makes Ukraine "anti-Russia"

I don’t think you know what that word means. But then you were just fine with Ukrainians shelling civilian Russian speaking areas for no other reason then to stop them from speaking Russian.

“Putin insisted that the West have been the aggressors and that Putin’s invasion was in fact a defense of the motherland.”

He is talking about color revolution, and the plan to establish military bases to wipe out Russia. In his mind he is defending his country against those things.

As I’ve said for many years, Ukraine will not be in NATO. This attempt to put it into NATO is fatal to Ukrainian statehood.

Thanks to Obama, Biden & Nuland.

One thing stands out…

If the west gives Ukies longer range weapons, Russia has no choice but to push the front line deeper into Ukraine.

It would be far better to send in our best weapon to end this…

Trump.

If you want to know what was in the speech, don’t read excerpts. Read the speech.

And there is some cause of rage in that the BBC is editing the translation. A sentence “Russia has the right to be strong” was changed to “Russia has the right to be dominant.”

So be careful of what translation you use.

Our media has never ever been so bad as it is now.

Here is the most telling part of the speech. It is Trumpesque and the people love it: The image of the West as a safe haven turned out to be fake. Those who considered Russia only as a source of income have lost a lot. In the West they were simply robbed. None of the ordinary citizens of the Russian Federation weep for those who lost their accounts in foreign banks or lost their yachts.

“When will the Ukraine supporters on FR actually support Ukraine by going to Ukraine to fight Putin?”

Are you going to go to Russia to rape and murder for Putin? When are you leaving?

” What, exactly, are the lies?

Name them, please.”

Well, just read the second half of the sentence that is quoted, and one of them is named:

‘One has to wonder whether the Russians can see through these shabby lies, especially about not “fighting the Ukrainian people.”’

Quote me saying that then. Otherwise you’re just lying.

In War there is no such thing as war crimes—save losing. War itself is a crime. People are fools to be carried away by the flags, drums and propaganda to put on uniforms and go kill people. The whole thing is a crime against humanity. BUT from time to time people need to just go out and kill in a national craze. They will kill and kill until they realize it is all a sick joke, and stop. Not every enemy leader is Hitler (really the Devil) not any culture or race is evil. Signs to watch out for: 1. A dehumanizing name for the foe (Orks). 2. Glorifying allies leaders into Gods of Goodness (Winston Zelensky). 3. Make your enemy a character of evil (Putler). 4. Chest pump your own nations military into an invincible force that can never know defeat. (Super Abrams Tanks—E-22 Vipers, Super carriers at sea etc...) The warnings are their—see you in the bombshelter comrads.
