When Ohio Senator JD Vance was briefing the press earlier today, he was asked about East Palestine residents being required to sign indemnity waivers, releasing Norfolk Southern Railway from legal liability, as a requirement of having their water/air tests conducted on their property.
Senator Vance said he talked to a resident about it, then reviewed the contract and confirmed the indemnity demand. Vance then immediately called Norfolk Southern Railroad officials and asked them about it. According to Vance, the response from Norfolk Southern Railway was that the liability waiver was accidentally presented.
...
Does anyone really believe the contingency waivers were “accidentally” presented to the residents?
Class action lawsuit. Subpoena the executive emails. Corporations do not give “contracts” to outside parties to sign without the corporation’s legal department reviewing it and an executive approving it. This is not an accident.
“EPA is doing tests for free; “
The federal government tested the water at Camp Lejeune for 30 years before it acknowledge it was poisoning the people living and working at the base. For another 20 years the USMC, Department of the Navy, and Department of Defense fought providing healthcare assistance to indigent veterans, dependents, and civilian workers whose health was destroyed by the toxic water. It wasn’t until Congress finally intervened that the Department of Veterans Affairs started providing some healthcare and the victims were given the right to sue.
I’m not sure I would believe the EPA or any agency of the government.
Norfolk Southern Says they “Accidentally” Asked East Palestine Residents to Sign Legal Waivers as Condition of Contamination Tests. ( Ohio )

Accident prone huh ?
Well,,,.
in that case...
Well it was a rail ‘accident’ ya know /s
EPA is up every citizens butt,, every ICE tailpipe, every factory smokestack,, every farmers navigable water puddle in their fields
And looks the other way and let’s these clowns burn millions of pounds of lethal toxins into the sky unfiltered and spread for miles downwind
Me thinks their incompetence and duplicity has reached the point where the EPA needs to not only be defunded, but eliminated.
I sorta wonder what the reaction from Washington will be when those pollutants start to drift by...Oh...East Saint Louis or Memphis and on down past the Mississippi Delta.
Down past cities and counties that does not consist of a majority of Deplorables.
You are correct. Hopefully, there are some freshmen in Congress that are not rented. Is JD Vance one of them? I saw him talking last night and he doesn’t seem to be.
Have any of you actually read the waiver?
To me it looks like they are saying....”If you want us to test your soil/water, we will need to come on to your property. You need to sign a waiver so that if our equipment or personnel screw something up while they are there, we won’t be held liable (for screwing something up while doing the testing).”
Certainly they should be bending over backward to do the testing without making the homeowners jump through a bunch of hoops but I think this is being misreported. It doesn’t seem to me that they are asking them to indemnify they for the chemical spill.
“Bankrupt the rat bastards. You know, I was thinking that people were overreacting until I read this.”
Agreed. It’s worse than you may have thought. Looks like the whole thing was caused by a hot box on one of the cars that NS didn’t inform the train crew of as the train went over 20 miles before it derailed. Please see:

Norfolk Southern is a DiversityEquityInclusion clownshow
FOXNews caught them and put the information on all their shows.
If it was only the liberal press jerks (who kiss elite butt) these powerless Americans would have been screwed over.
Eff the New York Times and Washington Post and MSNBC and what's left of CNN.
The vinyl chloride was burned up.
And again, a man in a caboose would have made this never have happened...
I understand. It is still killing animals.
Accidentally my ass! This will bite them in their financial ass and it should.
“Accidentally” HOW? Did this accident occur to a lot of people? Not the most competent group around then.
What a bunch of greasy slimebags.
Our country is approaching corruption levels on par with Russia and Ukraine.
Thanks, Democrats annd Assistant Democrats.
I would not trust the EPA tests, free or otherwise. The people in that area need to get an independent lab - and I mean INDEPENDENT - no current or prospective fedgov contracts to be bribed with. e.t.c. If they set up a fund, I think many people will contribute and there are smaller labs that will be attracted to this niche opportunity. After all, it is about their health, and their children and grandchildren.
Otherwise it is like asking the Fibbers and the DOJ to investigate the Hillary emails or the Hunter laptop.
BULLSHIT!!
