When Ohio Senator JD Vance was briefing the press earlier today, he was asked about East Palestine residents being required to sign indemnity waivers, releasing Norfolk Southern Railway from legal liability, as a requirement of having their water/air tests conducted on their property.
Senator Vance said he talked to a resident about it, then reviewed the contract and confirmed the indemnity demand. Vance then immediately called Norfolk Southern Railroad officials and asked them about it. According to Vance, the response from Norfolk Southern Railway was that the liability waiver was accidentally presented.
...
Does anyone really believe the contingency waivers were “accidentally” presented to the residents?
Glad Vance is finally responding. If this is an accident it won’t hold up in court.
It may not show up in well water for years.
You get what you pay for right ? They need to screen in homes where animals are dying from vinyl chloride.
Those people do not trust the EPA under Joe Biden. They want a totally independent outfit to do the testing. I do not blame them.
Perhaps a GiveSendGo could be set up for them to pay for it.
Ha Ha!
‘Some people’ made other people sign something.
Same bastards that did a 10 billion stock buyback but cut corners on safety.
We might bankrupt the company, but the executives who cashed in by plumping up stock options and bonuses with profits gained from skipping maintenance, skipping inspections, and understaffing will never pay a penny. That's the American Way now.
What a bunch retards!
Biden groped while Ohio choked.
“How does an accident like this happen?”
Doing a little research I found this. Admittedly this particular quote is from Yahoo, but it’s consistent through all the resources available on-line.
“From 1990, the first year the BTS began tracking derailments and injuries on a yearly basis, to 2021, there have been 54,539 accidents in which a train derailed. That’s an average of 1,704 derailments per year.”
That’s pretty remarkable! But then there are a lot of trains and a lot of rail mileage in the .S. every day....
81 million voters accidentally hit the wrong button on Election day.
Norfolk N Way
That’s why you always read the fine print like at your doctors or any contracts for work on your house or car. When I sign anything, I will read everything. It really irritates the person waiting for my signature, but I don’t care. Now the use policies but big tech and others on the internet are so long and so full of legalese that I admit I don’t get through it all, but I try to at least hit the high points. Of course they do that on purpose and I know it and I always look for any filled in check-boxes, but it is what it is.
How large a fortune is Norfolk Southern going to pay for future security for their rail lines? Treating victims like this will help ensure those rail lines have all kinds of problems.
Government/corporate corruption and media that will cover it up. I heard yesterday that the federal DOT guy-But-what’s his name, is complaining that the press is over reporting! The lapdog media has created odd expectations in our elected leaders.
Does anyone really believe the contingency waivers were “accidentally” presented to the residents?
No. HELL, no. A good rule of thumb is to NEVER sign anything without a lawyer going over it first. And even then, make sure you have aa copy.
Uh huh! What next? They will “accidently ask” residents to abort all their babies so,that no evidence of contamination can be detected in newborns?
I would like to point out that you cannot buy an American politician. You can only rent them or maybe (with a big enough pile of money) lease one for a year or two. They aren't honest enough to stay bought.
More lawyers.
