Anthony McRae details only GET worse -> Soros-backed prosecutor DISMISSED felony gun charge

Earlier today, we wrote about Anthony McRae’s history with weapons charges and were incorrect when we called him a convicted felon …

Not because we didn’t do our homework (and not because the newspaper we received the info from didn’t do THEIR homework), but because then George Soros-backed prosecutor Carol Siemon dismissed the felony charge.

No, really.

He did indeed serve time but on a misdemeanor charge THANKS to Siemon.

Anthony McRae, the Michigan State shooter, was charged in June 2019 with illegally carrying a concealed handgun without a permit, but later had those charges dismissed by George Soros-backed prosecutor Carol Siemon.https://t.co/z6JS22mof5

— Josh Christenson (@jchristenson_) February 14, 2023

From the Free Beacon:

Siemon retired from the district attorney’s office at the start of this year after facing criticism from judges and law enforcement officials for her soft-on-crime policies. The same year that McRae was released, Ingham County sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth pushed East Lansing’s city council “to reconsider her internal felony firearm charging policy,” which he said “does not hold people properly criminally accountable, and increases the likelihood of additional gun violence.”

Siemon made it her office’s official policy in August 2021 to drop mandatory prison sentences for felony firearms charges. She said the sentencing enhancement led to “dramatic racial inequity” and was “not in any way linked to the goal that we share of keeping the public safe.”

Siemon is part of George Soros’s vast public safety network. She has participated in international criminal justice reform junkets with other “reform-minded” prosecutors like Philadelphia’s Larry Krasner (D.), Chicago’s Kim Foxx (D.), and Los Angeles’s George Gascón. She also backed radical San Francisco prosecutor Chesa Boudin (D.) ahead of a recall campaign that eventually ousted him from office last year.

McRae shouldn’t have ever been free to walk to the streets, let alone able to get a handgun.

This is the issue with gun violence, Democrats.

Not the gun, but progressive prosecutors letting criminals walk so they can pat themselves on the backs for being equitable or some other happy horse crap. Meanwhile, people are losing their lives.

Her office instead let McRae plead guilty to a lesser misdemeanor gun charge, and he served a little more than a year on probation, which ended May 2021. He initially faced up to five years in prison for the felony charge, the @detroitnews first reported.

Because of course she did.

The victims should sue Michigan and go for all they can get. Only way to change this and hold someone accountable. May the sins of this prosecutor be visited by those she set free in the name of equity

— KansasCity JC (@hedgestrategykc) February 14, 2023

Sadly, since this story won’t help the Left or gun grabbers it will likely be gone very quickly. Especially since the issue that really needs to be fixed (not the guns) sits with progressive prosecutors and we all know they won’t want to talk about THAT.

If they were truly interested in finding ways to stop gun violence, this would be one of the first changes they’d make.

But they won’t because that would mean owning it …

This is a feature, not a fault. Libs want and need a major event, an uprising where a large group actively take up arms and defend and or retaliate against criminals, this will give Pedo Joe and the Ho the excuse they desperately want to initiate Martial Law and begin serious crackdowns.

This is the kind of prosecutor Newt Gingrinch started talking about until he was censored back in the fall of 2020 before he was censored by Fox New’s ‘Outnumbered’.

Not surprising. It is not isolated accident.

The Left loves chaos and destruction.

They represent Great Evil.

"Anthony McRae, the Michigan State shooter, was charged in June 2019 with illegally carrying a concealed handgun without a permit, but later had those charges dismissed..."

What's the problem here? What about "Shall not be infringed"? Isn't a a requirement to have a permit an infringement?

Michigan State Shooter Had Prior Felony Gun Charge Dismissed By Progressive Prosecutor (February 14, 2023)

https://freebeacon.com/democrats/michigan-state-shooter-had-prior-felony-gun-charge-dismissed-by-progressive-prosecutor/

Some of which did not makes sense to me. I do not know the gun laws in Michigan. The gun regulations mentioned may be for a large city, not the state gun laws.

The perp’s photo is at the link, and that of the Soros Judge.

When I lived in Michigan you had to get a written approval from the police chief or sheriff in your jurisdiction just to BUY a handgun. Every time. Is this still true?

See link at my post #8

I had the same question. That link is from the Washington Beacon. There was a link (bit shortened) to it at the Twitchy article.

If you have a Soros backed Prosecutor, you gotta give the People credit. It means that the People wanted the Prosecutor in Office because they were elected by majority vote. If that is what the People want. That is what the People will get. When the Voters get the intelligence to elect God Fearing men and women to Public Office, which they never will. That is when things will change.

Not prosecuting violent criminals increases equality? Yikes. It increases the murder rate.

I hate to break this news, but if you (I’m using ‘you’ generically. It’s not directed at anyone on FR) are a freedom loving conservative that believes in the Bill of Rights, it is not possible to hold two opposing views at the same time and defeat leftists. I’m just going by what’s in this post since I do not know McRae’s full background. Specifically, I do not know if he has other felony convictions.

A freedom loving conservative does not think the 2nd Amendment should be restricted by concealed carry permits. You see, we have a problem with that pesky phrase, “shall not infringe”. We believe in constitutional carry, and if you are true to that, it means there are no laws required for or against constitutional carry. The 2nd Amendment has all the power by itself to allow for carrying a weapon concealed or otherwise.

It’s another question altogether whether felony charges should be allowed to dropped in favor of a lesser charge. But that is a lawful practice. Personally, I think there are instances when this should be allowed to dispense justice that fits the crime.

So where’s the opposing view? The Soros backed DA is being attacked in this article for doing the right thing considering the unconstitutionality of concealed permit laws. I’m positive this DA has plenty of other real problems so go after him on those. Don’t weaken your stance on the 2a to attack him. In the process you are making a case for stricter gun laws and leftists will tear you a new one, by saying, “See, we need stricter, mandatory gun control laws. (Or gun safety laws or whatever euphemism they are using at the moment.) “This guy should have been in prison and never be able to have the opportunity to use a gun.”

There’s another consequence. This entire article maybe deflecting from the real problem McRae has. Could that be mental illness? I don’t know, but if it is, the author didn’t spend time investigating that. Instead he attacks the Soros backed DA. Attack him another day in an other way.

All of this isn’t about scoring points for Republicans. It’s about justice. There are plenty of Republicans that favor various degrees of gun control. I call them RINOs. I don’t want to score points for them.

By the way, I am not soft on crime. I don’t like what all these Soros backed DAs are doing. I firmly believe if you do the crime, you do the time. That’s a belief in paying a debt to society in hopes that a man can one day be a productive member of society. The only radical ideal I hold is once you pay that debt, all your rights are restored after you paid your debt. That includes 2a rights. Full rights are required to be a full member of productive society. It is unconscionable to punish someone indefinitely for lesser crimes. (Contrast that with not punishing someone enough for a greater crime, e.g., murder.)

Actually, I have one other radical ideal related to this. There are two types of citizens in regard to the 2a. Those in prison, which are denied their 2a rights, and those not in prison which have full rights. That means people with mental illness too. How you deal will mental illness is a mutually exclusively separate problem from denying someone their rights. Mentally ill people have the right to defend themselves, just like they have a right to free expression. No one should be denied their rights without being convicted of a crime. Personally, I do not think mental illness is a crime. By the way, I am no mental illness expert. I don’t know the solution to that problem. But I can say, that using mental illness as an excuse to deny someone their rights creates a slippery slope. It opens an argument for other classes of people to have their rights denied. Eventually, leftists will get around to sticking you into a class that denies your rights.

To conclude this little rant, the simple idea of two classes of citizens, those in prison and those not, and the rights they can and cannot exercise has consequences. It eliminates the need for background checks. I call that a positive consequence. Background checks do not stop criminals from obtaining guns. Background checks impede law abiding citizens from exercising their 2a rights while funneling money and resources into doing the background checks. Those dollars and resources could be used to fight actual crime. Background checks are a classic example of waste and the lack of focus on real problems just to make people feel safe. I have a hunch there’s a lot of people in Chicago that don’t feel safe and they have background checks and tons of unconstitutional gun control laws.
