The news story here is that a dog just became the first dog ever to turn 30 years old.

Another thing I like about my Shih Tzu they have long lifespans. I take really good care of him just like my last one. He’s very healthy 3 years old now lots of years left

We’ve been adopting senior dogs for about twelve years now. People abandon old dogs when they get medically expensive or old people die and their family abandons the dog.

We take them and give them a few months to a few years of the best spoiling care we can. There are few things as loving as an old dog that knows he or she has been rescued and old dogs are smart enough to know they’ve been rescued.

We have a memorial plot in the back yard where we’ve buried the ashes of ten or twelve dogs. It’s rewarding and heart breaking but I hate the idea of an old dog living out his days in a shelter.
