I am right there with you on the "be like" and actually the word "like" used punctuation, for that matter.
Having stated that, look at the difference between Chaucer versus Shakespeare and Shakespeare versus our American English. Language is going to evolve. I am more concerned with the possibility of incorporating Chinese into English.
