This is more likely the Gepard ammo issue, with RUAG being the sole supplier.
Swiss don’t have enough weapons production to be a serious exporter.

Swiss don’t have enough weapons production to be a serious exporter.True but as you point out they have important niche markets.
In WWII the US just pirated the Oerlikon/Bofors 40mm AA gun design and greatly simplified its construction. Don't think any royalties were ever paid.

The Swiss have been giving up their neutrality slowly but surely over time. Their agreement to hand bank information of depositors over to other countries was a big wake-up call to just how non-neutral they really are.
