A Google employee said he and his wife were both laid off by the tech giant in Friday's mass cull.
Ashish Kalsi wrote on LinkedIn that they stared at each other in "disbelief" that morning as their daughter slept.
Kalsi said he's on an H-1B visa and has a 60-day "countdown" to find a new role or leave the US.
A Google engineer said he and his wife stared at each other in "disbelief" upon learning on Friday they'd both been laid off by the company.
Ashish Kalsi, an associate principal of global engagement on Google's trust and safety team, wrote in a LinkedIn post Wednesday that he and his wife woke up on Friday to find they were both part of the company's cull of around 12,000 jobs.

Did he stare in disbelief when 1000s were laid off at CSX, NorfolkSouthern, GM, Ford, and every other company that has closed plants and downsized?
Doubt it. He’s just another liberal, hipster tech nerd who laughed when all those blue collar folks, that keep the country running, lost their jobs, since his job writing code is much more important.
What is the resident status of his wife?
Yep. No sympathy here.
Mike Lee has been a champion of the H1B-visa folks, trying to import as many as he can for the tech companies that have showed up in Utah.

Probably a blessing. In ten years, Google will be a faint memory as the new, proprietary ChatBoxes take over and make all search engines obsolete.
And in 5 years, he’ll be replaced by an even cheaper H1B........................

I wonder how many of these “imports” sympathized with the people who had to train them knowing that they were training their replacements.
Email caste. Generally speaking, if they don’t show up for work, no one notices.
Unlike someone important like the janitor whose absence everyone notices immediately.
