A Google employee said he and his wife were both laid off by the tech giant in Friday's mass cull.

Ashish Kalsi wrote on LinkedIn that they stared at each other in "disbelief" that morning as their daughter slept.

Kalsi said he's on an H-1B visa and has a 60-day "countdown" to find a new role or leave the US.

A Google engineer said he and his wife stared at each other in "disbelief" upon learning on Friday they'd both been laid off by the company.

Ashish Kalsi, an associate principal of global engagement on Google's trust and safety team, wrote in a LinkedIn post Wednesday that he and his wife woke up on Friday to find they were both part of the company's cull of around 12,000 jobs.

And Utah has been slithering leftward for a while now, too. Coincidence?

Thanks, but let’s be honest. Us thinking it’s funny just proves how old we are. LOL

Why would they care? It’s perfectly legal.

The mortgage is secured by the property, but the interest rate is determined by the credit rating of the borrowers at the time of the loan.

If the borrower transfers title of the property to his/her parents, who most likely have little or no US credit history, the mortgage holder's interest in the property has taken on significantly more risk. I don't think the mortgage holder wants this.

I suspect that if one looks carefully at all of the fine print on the mortgage papers it is forbidden.

Of course if the house is held free and clear with no mortgage the transfer would be fine. Except the IRS would classify it as a gift.

To me 11 years is approaching tenure... I knew a aircraft heavy jet mechanic that got laid off with 13 years in, he was shocked and went down to Florida and became a yacht mechanic I think he might have enjoyed that second job better.

But he had skills, Googlelees probably don’t have jack.

This is what happens when your legislature, Chamber of Commerce and others fall into the “we need the tech industry for all those high paying jobs”. And now the tech industry is laying folks off like crazy.

Yet they can’t also see that folks like Lee are actively trying to undercut the “high wages” of the tech folks by importing foreigners.

Then you have the “Republican” Governor getting on some type of Zoom-meeting and chuckles as he gives his preferred pronouns, one has to think what in the heck is going on in that state.

Not that my opinion counts for anything, but if someone like that gives their preferred pronouns, I’m not listening to a word they say and they definitely aren’t getting any votes from me, ever again.

A shame that the voters always seem to get stuck voting for such slimy folks.

A lot of spouses looked at each other in disbelief when Biden shut down the Keystone pipeline. Some of those people voted for Biden though.

Oh, gotcha. I don't know about that. Maybe the children secure the mortgage, or maybe it has to do with how they list it with the county.

They probably use an Indian-owned mortgage company. They, and the Koreans one county over, are very insular, and seem to have mastered thing like getting credit, starting businesses, etc.

“Kalsi said he’d worked at Google for more than 11 years, starting as an evaluator for search quality on the trust and safety team in 2011. He said he worked at Google on an H-1B visa.”

In case anyone wondered about why google has the culture that it does. It shares something with twitter’s former managment.

Rather than worry about who or what I am, why don't you just show me where I'm wrong?

A little online searching finds that he and his wife were both making in excess of $250K a year. He will get 38 weeks of severance pay. She will get 16 weeks. They will both get 6 months of their healthcare paid for.

His severance pay is more than I make in two years.

No tears here.
