Unless the states start actively fighting back, they are irrelevant. AND have zero voice in the process....
We also have statewide rent control and it does not work out quite the way people think it should. Rental houses are mostly sold as soon as rent control comes in. This causes a severe shortage of rentals, and cuts down on construction completely. If an existing house becomes a rental, but with no price history, it goes for an astonishingly high rent. Apartments and multi-unit buildings all raise rents by the maximum amount allowed by law, every year. It does not take many years of this to have rents greatly exceed an affordable level.
I think of our rent control law as The Landlord's Full Occupancy Act of 2019 .
“Unofficial evictions” sounds like a good side hustle for outlaw biker gangs.
My biggest expense is taxes. How about a moratorium on that?
I am so glad I got rid of my rental before this crap started.
I imagine blackrock will get bailouts for any money lost.
They want to drive out Mom and Pop landlords.
Which is odd given many people prefer rental income for retirement as an alternative to market risk. And with passage and implementation of SECURE 2.0 Act of 2022 it would seem the government is aware of providing flexibility as well as incentives around retirement accounts.
But the ultimate power is to control housing, and ultimately where people live. This is the Leftists ultimate dream.
Well their lack of law enforcement in Blue cities sure isn't helping them regardless of the extraordinary money they constantly funnel to leftist cities. The public school failures is just added incentive to escape cities.
