Dr. John Calhoon, the outgoing president of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, posted the slide immediately below as part of his farewell remarks. See if you can spot anything wrong with it:
Of course you know what happened next: Dr. Calhoon was called out for his “hurtful” remarks by the STS’s new president and board of directors.
You’d almost think the STS board had confused Dr. John Calhoon with John C. Calhoun or something. The only thing harmed by this reaction is the declining confidence patients will have in their doctors if this keeps up.
Maybe everyone should step up and say how they REALLY feel.
They can’t cancel everyone. And if they do, it’s just making all the productive people “Go Galt”. Society can then try to get along with only the Woke and Diverse crowd. See how that goes for them.
This is insane. Science is science. It shouldn’t matter if you’re from Asia or West Africa or Saudi Arabia; the human body is the same all over the world. It’s the cultural differences that they’re focusing on and that really has no place in medicine.
Other than using “good” instead of “well” I don’t see a problem.
you don’t quite understand.
First, you might have to join these organizations to keep your license or your board certification.
Two: those running it are usually non clinicians and liberal activists.
Three: If you aren’t required to join them for reason one, often this type of PC results in doctors leaving the organization.
For example, the AMA doesn’t represent all doctors: in fact they represent less than 20 percent of practicing physicians.
Many of us prefer to belong to our specialty groups, but even then the leadership is becoming PC in many of these.
There are a few conservative groups, but often they are biased and their journals lack scientific rigor or scientific neutrality.
The alternative medicine market is a $90 billion industry. Use it to avoid traditional medicine.
The he human body is not the same all over the world. There are marked differences in susceptibility to disease and its treatment among different races despite the fact it is no longer PC to say so. Hypertension should be treated with different agents in young black some than in old white men. Asians are at higher risk for stomach and esophageal cancer than other races. Medical schools didn’t used to be afraid to teach this
What if the science is a lie? Allopathic and naturopathic medicine cannot be reconciled. Someone is lying.
