“Several countries will announce the shipment of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine tomorrow at Ramstein Air Base - Reuters with reference to the Defense Minister of Lithuania.”

Nothing says Russian power and victory like wheeled vehicles hastily hoisted atop buildings in central Moscow. You serve corrupt Kremlin clowns who are the laughing stock of the world today.

@KampfmitKette

“It is now foreseeable that the Leopard 2 will be delivered to Ukraine. As always, I don’t want to read a quartet card in this thread, but rather go into “softer” factors and the overall Leopard 2 system. 1/x

Yes, the Napoleon quote is a cliche, but it’s still true. In a protracted war, supply and logistics play a much larger role than individual technical advantages or disadvantages. So first the big picture of the Leo 2. 2/x system

First of all, who has how many and what. This is the biggest advantage of the Leopard 2 compared to the Leclerc and Challenger 2. I have a broad user community that has functioning training and logistics chains. 3/x

Although there are different variants and sometimes small numbers, these countries still have spare parts, some of which are used across versions, such as engines and personnel who can repair vehicles and train crews. 4/x

There are larger and smaller differences, which, however, make logistics very difficult. You should therefore, for example, carry out conversion measures of the respective versions to a Ukraine standard. Or. of one version enough for a battalion ( > 40 pcs.) deliver. 6/x

The most relevant versions for Ukraine are the A4, A5 and partly A6 versions. Since there are still the largest numbers and fewer differences between the respective versions of the user countries, since many were simply bought by and . 7/x

The A4 version is the oldest and (still) has at least the country-specific differences (exceptions prove the rule). But this is also the weakest due to, among other things, older armor, poorer optronics and a shorter cannon. 8/x

Due to its age, the A4 variant is also predestined for submission, since an improvement to the A7 standard is no longer economically worthwhile. The measures on the hull, among other things, are too extensive and the age of the steel is no longer worth the effort. 9/x

The A5 and A6 variants remedy the resulting deficits in protection, optronics and firepower to varying degrees. However, these again have larger differences between the country versions, which would make conversions or levies in larger quantities necessary. 10/x

Upgrading all 2A5 to A6 would be useful as they are relatively small upgrades as opposed to A4 to A5 or A6 to A7. Here, however, time, capacity and effort are opposed to each other. However, this could simplify training and increase combat effectiveness. 11/x

In general, it can be said that a lot of (European/global) cooperation is now needed to organize an appropriate number of the same/similar Leopard 2 and to supply them in the long term. PS: Chile is a relatively large 2A4 user 12/x

“Whoever has, gets.”. Without the prospect of a replacement (preferably better than what you give), you will only get slow and few Leos from other countries. No army wants to give up all of their tanks at once and lose an ability for years. 13/x

That is why the course must now be set (ORDER!) to ensure a long-term supply of the Ukraine by Leopard 2 and to enable other states to pay with a clear conscience. 14/x

The introduction of the Leopard 2 into the ecosystem of Ukrainian logistics and operational principles will come as a bit of a shock at first, as it is a completely different concept from the T-tanks. Experience with handling must first be gained again. 15/x

Also, the Leopard 2 is easier to maintain (if you are trained and have the spare parts). An engine change takes hours and not days just like changing the pipe and other assemblies. 16/x

At the same time, you have to be prepared for a 20t heavier vehicle, which poses challenges when assessing bridges and transport and salvage. 17/x”

Roofs in Moscow.

I wonder whose HQ is in that building?

Each Pantsir air defense system deployed to Moscow is one less in UKR.

It’s not just a few tanks, though. It’s all the gear for Ukraine to continue building out a NATO standard military and order of battle. Tanks, IFV, support vehicles, etc. Russia has no hope of ever matching the arsenal and technical competence of Ukraine’s friends and allies. The only hope of the Kremlin and its fellow travelers is that Biden and Scholz cut enough aid that Ukraine must surrender. You can smell desperation in every gaslighting Putinist comment now. They know the fantasy Russian imperialist game is up. Forever.

“Estonia to provide Ukraine with record military aid package”

The supporting countries have really stepped up pledges and deliveries.

To me, it looks like coordinated resourcing of an offensive Operation Plan for the Ukrainians.

“to counter any potential Russian spring offensive”

Maybe that is what the Allies are digging deep to resource, rather than an Ukrainian offensive. Maybe both.

How to spoof the Air Defense in Moscow, so that they all shoot their wad over the rooftops of the city?

Funny you should mention "spoof".

I was thinking a different spoof.

Perhaps someone in UKR mentioned over an insecure phone line that UKR was prepping some TU-141s for a launch on Moscow's military HQs.

The old spy vs spy:

I don’t know what that means but you need to do atonement for when you backed the United States and NATO against Russia.

Now you are supporting Russia against the United States and NATO.

You can sign up for Wagner since you recommend that sort of thing.

It is now foreseeable that the Leopard 2 will be delivered to Ukraine.

IMHO, if Leopard 2s were required for defense then they would already be approved.

Yep. $125 million from Lithuania, too. Unsurprisingly, those that best know the filth and mass murder that Russia brings support Ukraine the most.

I find the whole Leopard 2 situation to be very strange.

Is there some high tech system in some of the Leopard 2s that we don’t want Russia to get a hold of?

Is Germany afraid that the Leopard 2s operated by UKF won’t perform well and the Leopard 2s will get a bum rap?
