This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it is not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

“Winning a long war requires a mobilization of troops and supplies that can outlast the other side. Positive objectives and clearly defined goals are the path to victory. After the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt was able to mobilize American society around the imperative of Japan’s unconditional surrender. After a shocking attack on U.S. soil, Americans rallied around the objectives of defeating Japan, avenging the assault on Pearl Harbor, and eliminating the threat posed by imperial Japan. Those goals would have been sufficient to sustain the U.S. war effort, but Americans had an additional aim: to strike a blow for democracy. By defeating Japan, the United States would encourage the democratization (and, by extension, the Americanization) of Asia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has not followed this classic formula. In fact, he has inverted it, by attacking Ukraine first and only then attempting to mobilize Russian society. He has described what Russia is doing in Ukraine not as a war but as a “special military operation.” He has never articulated a set of persuasive objectives; his stated goals have shifted over time. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has at various points aimed to halt an invented genocide, to “de-Nazify” a country that was not fascist, to liberate Ukraine’s allegedly Russian nature, and to demilitarize the country—even though it posed no real threat to Russia. According to VTsIOM, a state-owned polling institution, a majority of Russians considered Ukraine a friendly country before the war. Only 11 percent of Russians saw Ukraine as an enemy.
It is tempting to see Putin’s war as a total failure. From Kyiv to Kherson, Russia has endured significant battlefield losses. It has solidified Western support for Ukraine on a scale unthinkable before the war and provoked a formidable response from Kyiv. As Ukraine’s military improves, Russia’s prospects for ending the war on its terms are fading away—not that these terms have ever been clear. Russia also faces sanctions imposed by many of the world’s richest and most technologically advanced countries. With so many forces arrayed against Putin, some experts have speculated about a possible crackup of his regime.”

••Day 326.
Today there is a lot of news from the east.
A huge conflict between different structures inside the Russian Army caused the Russians to lose momentum in Soledar completely.
In order to claim that regular forces took Soledar, the Russian Ministry of Defense removed the Wagners from the front and deployed airborne forces to continue the storming. This was a huge mistake that allowed the Ukrainians to regroup and prepare a lot of defensive positions.
When it comes to the situation inside Soledar, even though the Russians have not eliminated the threat of the supporting fire from Blahodatne and Krasnopolivka, they are still launching one wave of attacks after another.
Due to the persistent crossfire, storming the Salt Mines and Sil station is extremely difficult, and the only thing the Russians have achieved so far is putting the approaches to the main Ukrainian positions in the grey zone.
The most important thing is that the Ukrainians still control these powerful fortifications and do not allow the Russians to cross the railways.
Yesterday I told you that the Russians shifted their focus to the southern flank of Soledar in order to undermine Ukrainian defense there and work their way up to Blahodatne and Salt Mines.
Today Ukrainian General Staff reported increased activity along the northern flank as well. Here the Russians launched an artillery preparation on Rozdolivka and Vesele. Some sources also reported an attack, but it looks like it was just regular reconnaissance.
When it comes to Krasna Hora and Paraskoviivka, here, the Russians are assaulting the outskirts of these settlements. Yesterday, I told you that they have been attacking them from the south, but today, some unconfirmed reports suggested that there was another attempt to penetrate the Ukrainian defense in front. Given the lack of further reports, it was highly likely unsuccessful.
The Russians likely expected the Ukrainians to focus on the southern direction and lose vigilance, but it looks like this assumption was wrong. According to a Russian source, the latest fights took place close to Paraskoviivka, near the Bakhmutka River.
This implies that the Russians are operating in the gardens, confirming my previous assessment of the possible axis of advance. As you probably noticed, the Russians lost their momentum.
One of the biggest impediments to the Russian Army turned out to be the Russian Ministry of Defense, because after most of Soledar had been captured by the Wagner forces, the Russian Ministry of Defense tried to highjack the operation from their own proxies to take full credit for the anticipated capture of the city.
Two things happened. Firstly, the command structure has changed.
Prior to the change, Surovikin was in charge of all operations in Ukraine, and Surovikin is considered to be a friend of the Head of the Wagner forces - Prigozhin. This means that the Wagners had a lot of freedom and support for the last several months.
Now the Russian Ministry of Defense appointed Gerasimov to be in charge of all operations in Ukraine, and Gerasimov is considered to be a friend of the Defense Ministry.
Russian Army consists of a lot of separate semi-autonomous forces, such as regular forces, volunteer battalions, Donetsk People’s Republic forces, Luhansk People’s Republic forces, Chechen Republic forces, and a lot of private military companies, with the most famous one being the Wagner Group.
As you can imagine, there are a lot of internal conflicts as the head of every structure tries to expand its political influence and power. That is why they always blame others for any mistakes and claim any victories.
Secondly, it is widely known that Bakhmut and Soledar have been the area of responsibility of Wagner forces, and the Wagners are the ones who established almost full control of Soledar.
But once the Wagners started storming the last Ukrainian positions, the Russian Ministry of Defense highjacked the operation. They sent most Wagner units inside to clear the city while they deployed airborne forces to conduct offensive actions. In order to secure the credit, Prigozhin claimed that the Wagners established full control of Soledar.
The Russian Ministry of Defense denied his claims in the evening and the next day claimed control over it themselves, despite Ukrainian presence in the western suburbs.
The same happened in Krasna Hora and other regions around Soledar - the Wagners were largely substituted by airborne forces. This is very good news for the Ukrainians.
Such developments work in the Ukrainians’ favor, because the motivated troops that achieved some victories, the troops that actually had been fighting here and know the terrain and situation, were withdrawn. This gave the Ukrainians more time to regroup and fortify new positions.
In fact, the Institute for the Study of War noted that the Ukrainians established fortified positions on the west side of the highway. Russian Intelligence says that more units will reinforce this line already tomorrow.
And if we look at the topographic map, we can see that the area to the west of this road is located on the highlands, boosting the Ukrainian tactical position tremendously.
Lastly, the freezing days have ended, and the ground will be soaked with wet snow, which means that Russian advances will be further complicated.
Some Russian analysts already expressed their disdain at the fact that the Ukrainians were given enough time to stabilize the front line. That is why a lot of experts are predicting the shift to positional fights in this region.
Overall, the internal politics of the Russian Army undermined the whole Soledar operation and gave the Ukrainians time to regroup and establish multiple defense lines west of the city. The results are already visible, as the Russians have not secured any gains in days.
This is a perfect chance for the Ukrainians to regain the initiative and dictate the place of the next big battle.

Allowing UKR to stabilize the front is a huge blunder. My personal message to RU MoD is a great big THANK YOU!
That is why a lot of experts are predicting the shift to positional fights in this region.

I think I would be cautious for now. There is very little predictable in the short to medium term (1 to 6 months).
