I have read some number of times that the press secretary is in attendance at many EOP meetings and briefed on others as to subjects and decisions. How else is a press secretary to be privy to thoughts, decisions and talking points of the day? Press secretary is aware of the who, what and where of most everything.

TO my mind the press secretary is part and parcel with the policy makers because the secretary then goes out to the press and passes on the info to the reporters and therefore the public and the secretary is the one that tells the lies. They are the ones that omit the important info or won’t answer the questions. They are the mouthpiece of the administration.
