I was hoping that The Constitution and the Representatives Constituents would be the Real Winners.

You may or may not like Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, and the Freedom Caucus, but one thing is for sure: they flexed their muscles this week, and they are going to be a force to be reckoned with.

I think they managed to maneuver an outcome just this side of cane swinging bloodshed. Well done.

thank God for Matt and the other five. i think they did the best they could. the good thing is that they continue to be in a good position to act as a conservative ‘gang of five’ when the establishment votes for something we don’t want (i know: the dems could support them anyway).

They were genuinely confused and helpless when I pointed out to them that McCarthy was supported by Trump. “OH NO, Which way do I turn!?! “

Gaetz had his mouthpiece and gloves on for the Speaker vote.

Also, this drama would’t have happened if a red wave would’ve materialized in the 2022 midterms.

So the only enforcement mechanism in this agreement is the “Single member vote to oust Speaker”.

So if McCarthy does not allow a vote on any of the other “agreements” one member can make a motion to oust the Speaker ... and then when no one else or only a handful of Reps. back that one member and the vote goes down in flames and McCarthy retains his Speakership ... then what? Business as usual?

I don't know who this author is, but articles like this remind me of the movie The Ten Commandments, where the Queen taunts and goads Pharoah Ramses into reneging on his deal with Moses and sends his army to slaughter the Jews as they leave Egypt.

I'm not interested in stories about who the "real winner" is, I'd rather hear how the American people are the "real winners."

It's my belief that stories like this are psyops intended to subliminally coerce people like McCarthy and his staff into reconsidering what they did, just as Pharoah reconsidered what he did in the movie.

No good can come from reneging on such a public agreement, and people who write stories trying to antagonize those who gave the concessions are no good, too.
