That letter does claim that “1598 athletes suffered cardiac arrest, 1101 of which with deadly outcome” between January 2021 and late 2022 — but it simply cites a blog, goodsciencing.com, for that figure.

But is the figure false? This article is just a wordy ad-hom attack.

I’ve learned, simply put, to not trust any source that had to pay a settlement to Nick Sandmann. They are proven liars.

Exactly. It says, essentially, you are not a government approved source, therefore you are not trustworthy!

It's absolutely false if you consider the deaths included in the 1598.

Here's one example:

"Gary Tiller (62), Curling player who represented Newfoundland province. He died after a “brief battle with cancer.”

Here's a 62 year old guy, who at one time participated in curling, who died of cancer. And there are dozens of these entries with old people with only the most tenuous connection to athletics (a sports announcer!) who died of cancer, Strep infections or unknown causes. All randomly collected off of the internet.

They try to compare this with a study of young (<35) athletes who died suddenly of specific cardiac conditions and who had their deaths written up in a medical journal.

The comparison is so deranged only an anti-vaxer would even waste the energy to post it.

Misleading because it uses the term athletes when not all are. https://goodsciencing.com/covid/athletes-suffer-cardiac-arrest-die-after-covid-shot/

Up to 1621 with 1118 dead but it includes little league players up to retired people who simply worked in sports and a few non-sports people who doing a physical activity like running, dancing etc. Acanning through a few pages, it looks to be about 60-70% are actual athletes(pro or not) or ex-athletes and between 20-45 years old.

Here’s another version that IS mostly young athletes and has 304 listings. https://airtable.com/shrbaT4x8LG8EbvVG/tbl7xKsSUIOPAa7Mx

At any rate, it’s best these days to use your instincts and observation.

I’ve never noticed so many stories of famous people dropping like flies as I do now. I’ve heard about the super rare possibility of a child having cardiac issues but have never known it to be talked about like it’s normal as it’s talked about now. I’ve never seen so many news articles list off all the really odd sounding reasons that might give a person a heart attack. Sleep, rest, exercise, cold, heat are some recent ones.
