Was she a reporter or a narrator? What big story did she break? Did she just interview people and help those on the left get their message across, and put barriers in place to hinder those on the right getting their message across? She was on TV a lot during a time when there were limited choices. In today’s celebrity worship culture, I guess that is important.
She did news coverage but her main job was as you say, an interviewer. She got the ‘big fish.’ I think it was in many ways a status thing... powerful men and women were more likely to accept an interview with her because it connoted that they were ‘somebody.’
