‘Stunning Act of Betrayal’: Here Are the 18 Senate Republicans Who Voted to Pass $1.85 Trillion McConnell-Schumer Omnibus Bill
The Daily Signal ^ | 12/22/2022 | Tyler O'Neill

A total of 18 Republicans joined all Senate Democrats to pass a $1.85 trillion omnibus spending bill Thursday afternoon, in the final two weeks in which Democrats control the House of Representatives.

The bill passed 68-29. Since there are 47 Democrats in the Senate and three independents who caucus with Democrats, that means 18 Republicans voted to support the spending package. They are listed below.

Conservatives called the move during the lame-duck session a “stunning act of betrayal.” Democrats have had both branches of Congress and the presidency during all of 2022, conservatives say, but rushed to pass this budget bill only after Republicans won a House majority in November.

Since 1994, the House majority has changed four times. In each case, the outgoing majority didn’t pass an omnibus appropriations bill during the lame-duck session following the election. In each case, the outgoing majority left the hard work of legislating to the representatives the American people had just elected.

Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., incoming chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, warned that Republicans would be voluntarily abandoning their ability to hold the Biden administration accountable for the next year.

Many are the usual suspects Murkowski, McConnell, Graham, Collins.. But Tom Cotton? Et tu Tom?

I would note that I do not see Mike Lee or Ted Cruz or Rand Paul on the list.

The next time someone complains about POTUS45's "staffing issues" refer them to this list.

President Trump had almost no final say about the people he nominated to fill cabinet positions.

Everything had to run through the Senate, which meant Mitch McConnell had the final authority.

And once the special counsel was activated, he spent the rest of his term existing under the shadow of inpeachment.

Any actions he took that would have countered the Deep State movements almost surely would have resulted in the House of Representatives hauling him up on charges.

And those who don't believe he would have been convicted by the Senate, I say again, review the list.

Everyone on it would have vote to expel the sitting President if Mitch McConnell had decided he needed to go.

Of that list...one I know of is gone...Jim Fricking Inhofe.

And he's got a $600 million dollar earmark if this thing gets passed. Nothing like a massive cash grab on the way out the door.

The country clubber snob establishment of the party now openly mocks conservatives even after the 22 election debacle. They offer no choice and betrayal after betrayal now this dagger in the spine again. They were bleeding conservative votes and MAGA voters hate them intensely. This last backstabbing is a bridge too far in their utter contempt for conservatives.

I’ve voted 100% R from 1984-2010, then I started leaving ballots unmarked in some cases. In 2024, the Republicans do not have my vote and at this point I see no reason to waste my useless vote on these pusillanimous SOB’s!

Term limits...... hmmmm....who is going to pass that legislation? Think they’ll limit their own jobs?

Truth is many Republicans campaigned on that years back. When they got elected they did nothing.

They do it because their constituents want it. If their constituents stopped voting for people who will support spending, then it will stop. There are plenty of republicans who’d vote no, but they lost their elections.
