Look, I don’t know what Donald Trump is trying to accomplish with his “Trump Digital Trading Cards,” but I do know P.T. Barnum ain’t got nothin’ on The Donald. I mean we’re talking MyPillow dude Mike Lindell-quality stuff, here.
Here’s something else I know: Whatever Trump was thinking was wrong. Way wrong.
As my colleague Bonchie reported earlier, Trump on Wednesday teased a coming “major announcement” on Thursday morning. His major announcement, he said, would come because “America needs a superhero.” On Thursday, that announcement came: Trump Digital Trading Cards. No, really.
Ah, but hold on here a minute, some of you ask, while others laugh. Given Trump’s “genius,” he’s always (fill in a number) of steps ahead of everyone else. So, of course, the trading card thingy is something brilliant that mere mortals are incapable of grasping. One avid Trump supporter on my Facebook page called Trump’s “major announcement a “feint” — leading up to comment about his 2024 platform.
Other loyalists, perhaps like the rest of us with no explanation, assumed Trump’s trading card shtick was only a “joke” — given that Trump can never be wrong. Three words: not a joke. Check out his announcement video at CollectTrumpCards.com and see for yourself.
In an infomercial rivaling Mike Lindell’s “best” MyPillow product ads, Trump boasts:
Hello everybody, this is Donald Trump. Hopefully your favorite president of all. Better than Lincoln, better than Washington, with an important announcement to make. I’m doing my first official Donald J. Trump NFT Collection right here and right now. They’re called “Trump Digital Trading Cards,” These cards feature some of the really incredible artwork pertaining to my life and my career, and it’s been very exciting.
Notice how Trump must be “better than” Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. It’s honestly kind of sad, in a way. That amount of insecurity, I mean. And how does a serious person even respond to this? No, it wasn’t a “feint.” No, it wasn’t a “joke.” The question is, what the hell was it?
Trump continued to boast about himself and hype the ever-loving crap out of his digital trading card series, but before we go any further, a quick word about NTFs — non-fungible tokens.
I won’t get deep into the weeds about NTFs, but they’re even more precarious than cryptocurrencies. Comprised of digital identifiers that can’t be copied, substituted, or subdivided and recorded in a blockchain, they are worth ONLY what those who are brave silly enough to buy them think they’re worth. You don’t have to be a former 30-year registered investment advisor — which I am — but anyone with a modicum of knowledge about how the crypto nightmare turned out for buyers who “invested” serious money in the pretend assets knows what I’m talking about.
Anyway, again, why?
Does Trump know he’s going to lose but wants to go out with a bang? Is the whole thing a thinly veiled fundraising scheme? Does Trump even really want to be president, again? Or is he incapable of seeing how ridiculous this thing is, and honestly believes everything he says in the video I linked to, above? Again, I don’t know.
But here’s something I strongly believe: Trump is counting on his legions of loyalists to plop down a hundred bucks a pop on this worthless nonsense, and I’m gonna go ahead and bet he won’t be wrong.
Sorry, Trump loyalists, but this is as pathetic as it is hilarious.
NFTs are like crypto.
“aaaaaaand it’s gone.”
My brother, who is not a fan of Trump, is a Democrat, nuff said, when I told him said, ‘he’ll probably make millions from it’.
Maybe that is true.
Guess we’ll have to just give it time and see.
I think the problem is that Trump mentioned that there was going to be a major announcement. Given the desperate situation we find our country in, I think a lot of us were counting on this major announcement to be something helpful.
Instead it was digital trading cards.
I can think of several folks on this forum who are probably, right now, trying to buy the whole set.
Yeah that’s the crux of it. Promoting “a major announcement” that turns out to digital promotional cards is just pure cringe. I was expecting/hoping for something to help us out of this nightmare
Oh i know one in particular. He was probably down at the bank today getting a second mortgage on his house.
Which means no bubble gum and no more "I'll trade you a Donald Trump for a Mickey Mantle …"
He should have sold actual trading cards and avoided this NFT embarrassment. Physical trading cards have a better chance of staying above $0.00. Hopefully he’ll make enough money to be worth it.
I’m thinking Trump was thinking with the same part of his brain as when he made appointments like Barr, Wray, and Bolton and when he decided to rally his innocent supporters in DC while the voting was done in close proximity at the Capitol Building on the controversial Electoral College results. Sadly, not even 2D chess.
I see it Your way as well.

Sense of Humor.
“This has the paw prints of Jared Kushner all over it.”
Nah, they are estranged. And disagree with Kushner all you want, but he isn’t that dumb.
This reeks of the d-team that is left around Trump. Grifters and losers.
Trump Cards. I guess it just had to happen. And I’m sure he will make money on it. But still....
About as little as he did in his remarks about grounds for suspension of the Constitution and law in general.
I’m afraid he has lost it and is toast. No need to spend anymore time on him.
Very sad.
Trolling NFTS 🤪🤣🤣
He’s right, this has P.T. Barnum all over it. Trump is turning this into a clown show and it’s hard to watch.
