Barbary Pirates occupied an island off England that was used as a base for slave raids into England. It was said that here were so many white females in the North African slave markets that a white female could be purchased for the price of an onion!
In the 90’s I took a required course in African American History in Georgia. The professor was African American, The course textbook was written by an African American. The people that argued with the professor the most were the African American students, who didn’t believe the textbook or the professor. The problem was the slave trade to Africa and Brazil were larger and much worse than the slave trade to America. The students just knew America was the worst. Then they didn’t want to believe that naval patrols by Great Britain and America finally brought the Atlantic slave trade to an end. And of course European armies had to have invaded Africa to gather the slaves, because the Africans wouldn’t sell slaves to white people. I just wished I could have had a phone that would have let me record it. And popcorn.... I enjoyed that class.
Irony of ironies.
The reason the word “slave” has its meaning is because so many Slavs were enslaved in the Middle Ages...many of them ending up as slaves in the Muslim countries. (The present-day Slavs of Eastern Europe are descendants of those left behind.)
The United States as we know it is about to go down the memory hole.

In the late 8th and early 9th Centuries AD, the Norwegians were raiding coastal Scotland specifically to capture slaves to sell in the interior of Europe.
They weren't just "trading" slaves, they were capturing them, transporting them to market, and conducting the sales themselves.
I should have specified the slave trade involving africans. Forgive me!
Facts that seem to have been tossed in the memory hole:
1. Slavery has been a common aspect of the human condition from Old Testament times through now.
2. Every racial group on earth has both kept slaves and been enslaved.
3. The ancestors of today’s American blacks were, for the most part, sold into slavery by other blacks.
4. It was white Christians in England and the United States who first declared slavery to be immoral and went about putting a stop to it.
5. As a white person of Slavic ancestry, I likely have more slaves in my ancestry than most American blacks.
6. The practice of slavery is kept alive today mostly by Islam.
Classic projection by muslims.
And mostly females, for concubinage. It's why most of the ruling class in the Middle Eastern countries looks Caucasian.
