The house was not really abandoned; the Russians chased out the occupants and maybe killed them.

Back when they were protesting (and then fighting) during the “revolution” in Keiv about 8(?) years ago I noticed the statue in the town square. “Why - those guys look like Vikings!”.

So I stated doing some research - and yes they were. The Vikings invaded what at the time was a bunch of various tribes. The Vikings got them under control and got them into a type of government together rather than fighting iirc. I think the Vikings did it in a fairly civil manner, establishing laws but also adopting local customs, etc. The Vikings are considered the Founders of Ukraine.

That's pretty much what I've read from history also. You can probably trace Moscow's origin to the Vikings. The Vikings left lasting legacy's in a lot of Europe's coastlines and river settlements.

Christianity came to the Nordic lands via the Christian women who were enslaved and forced into marriages with Chieftans or Tribal leaders and brought back to the homeland. They passed on the Bible and teachings to their offspring.
